VINE Sanctuary News
MLK Day Vegan Challenge
Every year, VINE Sanctuary challenges vegans to devote part of MLK Day to learning about past and ongoing antiracist struggles. In past years, we’ve focused on basic civil rights movement history, Black Lives Matter, Black feminism, prison abolition, and environmental justice. This year, our theme is “the struggle continues,” with a focus on two current emergencies: voting rights and climate justice.

Sanctuary News
In sanctuary news, it's January in Vermont. It was -17F when we woke this morning, and there's a snowstorm on the horizon. The goats and sheep have been enjoying the annual bounty of donated Christmas trees. The cows are very glad to have grown their own winter coats. The birds are cranky on the days that they have to stay inside their coops and indoor-outdoor exercise areas but explode in excited exploration on the days that it's safe for them to roam. The ducks and geese insist on visiting the pond, just in case it might have thawed.

As is the case every year, our hard-working animal care team stretch themselves to the limit making sure that everybody has what they need every day. Many thanks to the donors who have made sure that they have the tools and winter gear they need as well as food and warm bedding for everybody!
