On not getting tired.
Have you noticed that sometimes you feel more tired after riding in a car all day/sitting in a plane or airport than if you've been moving and active? I'm always surprised that the first thing I want to do when I arrive from a long trip is to sit down. Waiting is exhausting like that. But what if you're not waiting for a long anticipated reunion or a joyful celebration, but for something else? There are many at this time of year who feel especially the burden of all that is not right in the world. Advent does prepare us for Christmas, but perhaps more importantly brings us alongside those crying for justice, those to whom Isaiah offers hope and encouragement. Those who are exhausted in their waiting.
God of Advent Hope, we get distracted by many things. We give thanks for those who never lose sight of You, Lord, who never lose sight of those in need of justice. Help us to see and join them as You have equipped us. In Jesus' name, Amen.
