During this time of the year, it is always good to see family and friends that are near and dear to our hearts. It is also a great time to remember our neighbors that are struggling to make ends meet. Below is a listing of just a few of the many organizations that make a huge impact on the lives of some of our neighbors. If you haven't had the chance yet during this holiday season, please consider donating or volunteering your family's time to one of them.
  • Cook County Sheriff's Women's Justice Programs needs travel-size toiletries. Cook County Commissioner Bridget Gainer is hosting this to help women. Click here for more information or reach out to Commissioner Gainer (312-603-4210 or info@BridgetGainer.com)
  • Cornerstone Community Outreach is requesting "gifts of warmth" such as new hats, gloves, blankets, linen, and toiletries for their shelter residents, many who are children. Drop these gifts at their shelter located at 4615 N. Clifton. Click here for more information.
  • Lakeview Pantry provides both food and care management that helps families in need. Click here to get more information.
  • Chicago House was one of the first organizations to address the needs of families affected by HIV/AIDS. They are now taking the lead with empowering trans people to live full and productive lives. Click here to help.
  • Sarah's Circle requests funding for its Make It Home Program, which helps women in need obtain ID's, application fees, and security deposits that will enable them to get into permanent housing. Click here for more information.
Lastly, your local neighborhood organization or place of worship might also be organizing a way to give back to others. There is no better way to celebrate the spirit of giving than to give to those in need. Click here to learn more about organizations that provide food to 46th Ward residents.
