Cuts to Funding for Public Media

For decades, public media have served as a cornerstone of fact-based journalism, educational programming, and cultural storytelling, especially for communities that commercial outlets often underserve. This decision poses a direct challenge to the independence and accessibility of nonpartisan news. At a time when misinformation is on the rise, stripping funding from public media undermines one of the few remaining sources dedicated to delivering truth without political or corporate bias.

Senate Republicans on Tuesday passed the largest cuts to Medicaid since the program began in the 1960s, a move that would erode the social safety net and cause a spike in the number of uninsured Americans over the next decade. 


The tax and spending bill is projected to cost more than $3 trillion during that time, but it would be partially paid for with about $1 trillion in cuts to Medicaid.

Trump Ends Funding for LGBTQ Youth Option on National Suicide Hotline

During Pride Month, funding was cut for the LGBTQ youth option on the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline—removing a vital support line for young people already at significantly higher risk. 1 in 5 LGBTQ youth and over 1 in 3 trans youth report having attempted suicide.
