Friends of Parks eNews

Wondering what golf and chicken dinners have in common? Believe it or not, they're both helping to support the Cincinnati Parks Foundation! This month we have several fun events going on around Cincinnati that will support YOUR parks. From Oktoberfest chicken dinners at Moerlein Lager house to a golf outing fundraiser, there's something for everyone.

We couldn't do our work without the support from volunteers and community partners for special events like these. Thank you to everyone who has already given their time and resources this summer to support our mission.

Please read on to learn more about what we have planned this month and how you can get involved!

Fondly looking forward to sweater weather and lovely autumn walks in your Cincinnati Parks...
 With gratitude,

Rededication of the Gale Garden
Gale Garden at Krohn
Thanks to a generous $24,000 gift from the Nelson Schwab Family Foundation, the Betty Gale Garden will finally reopen to the public. Unfortunately, this room at the  Cincinnati Parks' Krohn Conservatory has been closed for years because it was not ADA-compliant. The new renovations are complete and the garden will officially reopen September 17.

Volunteer with Cincinnati Parks this September

Fall is right around the corner and a great time to be out volunteering in Cincinnati Parks! Nature offers one of the most reliable boosts to mental and physical well-being. Spending time in the outdoors has been found to improve short-term memory, concentration and creativity—while reducing the effects of stress and anxiety.

Volunteering on National Day of Service or National Public Lands Day is a great opportunity to spend time with family and friends and enjoy the many benefits that come from connecting with nature.

Did You Know?
A humming bird hovering over a flower
Hummingbirds are beginning their migration south for the year. It is a commonly believed myth that they make the journey by catching a ride on the backs of geese. While this is an adorable image, it isn't true. Hummingbirds make the migratory flight on their own!

Help the hummingbirds by leaving summer flowers in your yard or putting out feeders through the month of October.
