Dear Friends,
This Sunday, we will join the disciples as they continue to learn who Jesus is. They had been with Him in a boat going through the ride of their life, only to arrive on the shore and be confronted by a man who was completely trapped—tormented by evil, isolated from people, and living among the tombs. His life was chaos and despair. Yet when Jesus came near, everything changed. With one word, Jesus set him free.
This story in Mark 5 is powerful because it reminds us that no one is beyond the reach of Jesus’ transforming grace. The man who once terrified the community became the first missionary to the Gentile world. When the townspeople found him, he was sitting there, dressed and in his right mind, v. 15. And when Jesus told him to go home and tell his story, he did—sharing throughout the region how much the Lord had done for him. That’s the gospel in action: Jesus delivers us, restores us, and then sends us out to tell others. Our story—no matter how broken or ordinary—can point someone else to the hope and healing found in Christ.
So today, remember, Jesus still steps into our chaos; He still sets captives free; and He still sends His followers, you and me, to tell the good news of what He has done. Something to think about…Where has Jesus brought freedom or healing in your life? Who can you share that story with this week? Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, Mark 5:19.
I’ll see you Sunday!
