Any being is good if it realizes its potential at all and could contribute in some way to the well-being of something else.

Have you ever felt as if evil was lurking around every corner? Are good and evil locked in an eternal, evenly matched struggle? If there were no evil to fight, would that mean there would be no goodness either? What do we even mean when we say something is "good"?

Questions like these are often thought to be unanswerable. If so, that would be a major challenge in our effort to understand what love is. Fortunately, there are answers to those questions.

Updates about the future of our newsletters!

Our parent office at the USCCB is introducing a new newsletter to tie together our various fields of youth, young adults, laity, NFP, marriage, family, sexuality, and the human person. All these and more will be be grouped under the umbrella of the Apostolate of the Laity, with one newsletter per month.

Love Means More will continue with the "Weekly 'What'" series and monthly updates, but they will no longer include policy updates. Please continue to follow this newsletter for insights into the meaning of love, but also sign up for the new Apostolate of the Laity newsletter!

October 2025: Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Enhance your efforts to address domestic abuse and violence and to promote family peace. Catholics for Family Peace aim to inform the Catholic community on ways to promote family peace and to prevent and respond to domestic abuse. They also provide resources and promote prayer for all families. Their initiative provides education, resources, and research that help clergy, pastoral leaders, and parishioners recognize domestic abuse and respond with compassion.

We as a community of God are called to be part of helping friends and family suffering abuse. If you know someone suffering threats and beatings at home, help is available. Through the grace of God and the sacraments, through counseling, developing safety plans, and learning new relationship skills, family members in danger can get to safety, and abuse can stop
