Church family, are we living into our vision? Are we striving to meet our mission? If not, why not? and how can we reach the goals we have set for ourselves both personally and collectively?

Mission Statement

To love and serve God and our neighbor, by striving to meet the needs of God's people.

Vision Statement

To be a Christian community of faith where love lives, love works, to spread the good news of God's grace and mercy.

What can be better than Jesus praying for us?

John 17:1-11, known as part of the High Priestly Prayer, marks the beginning of Jesus' final prayer before his arrest. It highlights his impending passion as his glorification, defines eternal life as knowing God, and reveals his intimate oneness with the Father while committing his disciples to God’s care.

Key Themes and Interpretations

  • Glorification Through the Cross (vv. 1-5): Jesus states that his "hour has come". He views his imminent death (passion) not as a defeat, but as the moment to reveal God's glory on earth, connecting his crucifixion directly to his return to the Father.
  • Definition of Eternal Life (v. 3): Jesus defines eternal life not simply as living forever, but as an intimate, experiential relationship: "knowing" the only true God and Jesus Christ. This knowledge is a transformative, relational experience, not merely intellectual information.
  • The Mission Accomplished (vv. 4-5): Jesus affirms he has completed the work given to him, glorifying God on earth by making the Father's love and truth known through his life and ministry.
  • Intercession for Disciples (vv. 6-11): Jesus focuses on his followers, noting that they belong to God, they have accepted his message, and they recognize that he came from the Father.
  • Trinitarian Unity (v. 11): Jesus prays for the unity of his followers, mirroring the perfect oneness of the Trinity, as he prepares to leave the world while they remain.
