September 30th marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a federal statutory holiday established in 2021 to honor those who survived residential schools, those whose lives were lost, and those who continue to experience suffering and trauma.
Also known as Orange Shirt Day, it's a time for Canadians to raise awareness about the history, harm, and legacies of the residential school system by wearing orange.
Visit the library to engage with our display of orange t-shirts, where you're invited to write what reconciliation means to you and hang it up. There are also many books and resources available for you to borrow.
