Greetings!
Despite the late notice, we had a fantastic group at last week's Clinton County Business Advisory Council + Workforce Collaborative meeting! There was deep and engaged conversation about potential adjustments to the Career Exploration Fair (employer registration is still open - scroll down for details), received updates from the Southwest Career Pathway Support Network (more on that in future communication), and met Heather Schneder, our new Clinton County Workforce Development Coordinator!
| |
Scroll down for a welcome message from Heather. She has already hit the ground running and is ready to meet all of you!
Finally, just a quick reminder of our next Clinton County Workforce Collaborative meeting, where our career cluster/industry sector focus will be on Education & Training (employers who plan, manage, and provide education and training services, and related learning support services) and Human Services (employers who serve family, human, and community needs):
Wednesday, October 14
9 to 10:30 a.m.
Southern Ohio Educational Service Center (3321 Airborne Road, Wilmington)
With gratitude for all you do,

Meet Our Clinton County Workforce Development Coordinator
Hello! My name is Heather Schneder, and I am your new Clinton County Workforce Development Coordinator!
For each of us to start building a relationship with one another I think it is important to understand what brings us to this table. I think it is important to share with you that I am here because I want to be here. I am a lifelong resident of Clinton County and will always consider it home. I went to school here, I went to college here and have worked in the business sector here in varying positions. I’ve done PR and communications work at the headquarters for Liberty Savings Bank, managed employees and did training for UPS, and most recently worked at Wilmington College in their business office in charge of non-tuition revenue and event and property management.
I have a bachelor of science with a double major of agriculture and communications and an MBA with a focus in organizational management. That said, I look at this position in a business way…wanting to learn about the needs you all have, the resources you all have, and ultimately how we can blend both of those into opportunities for our entire Clinton County Community.
If you weren't at the September meeting, I would love to meet you! Please feel free to reach out to share one, two, or three ways that you would like to see me help you and let me know what will make a positive impact for you. For our school districts, it may be lining up workplace tours for middle schoolers, or maybe it's getting guest speakers into the elementary schools or even working directly with high schoolers on soft skills. For businesses maybe it's bringing possible candidates to you, maybe it's communicating an internship program you already have…there are no wrong answers…I want to hear anything you’ve got that you see as a positive for YOU!
I would like to leave you with a clear message: I know we will need to have conversations as a group and individually, we will build relationships. We will work on plans and brainstorm and think through new ideas and what ifs and that is all fantastic. But I also want to let you know that I am here for the next step too and that’s ACTION. I certainly don’t think we can accomplish everything in the first year but I am definitely motivated to take steps. See change. See outcomes.
This group is here to be the bridge between our schools and business organizations and to benefit one another. I am excited and thrilled to be just one link in that chain of positive forward momentum!
