Early on in my 40+ years of practice I found the importance of maintaining good posture and full ranges of joint & muscle movement as a way to help people get out of pain and feel younger. As soon as your posture shifts and changes, you look & feel older. Actors and actresses understand posture because it gives them presence and when they walk into a room you notice.

Alignment is a concept that refers to the harmonious relationship between the mind, body, and spirit.

This idea recognizes that the three components of our being are interconnected, and that optimal health and well-being require that they are in balance.

When it comes to the body, alignment refers to the proper positioning of the bones and joints in relation to one another.

This allows for efficient movement and reduces the risk of injury & wear & tear on the body.

Good posture is a key aspect of physical alignment, and it involves maintaining the correct balance of muscle tone and tension to support the spine and other joints.

The mind also plays an important role in alignment. Our thoughts and emotions have a direct impact on the physical body, and a healthy mind is essential for maintaining balance and well-being. Mental alignment involves practices such as meditation, mindfulness, and self-reflection, which can help to quiet the mind, reduce stress, and promote a sense of inner peace.

Finally, spiritual alignment refers to the connection between the individual and a higher power or purpose. This can involve religious or spiritual practices, as well as a general sense of connection and purpose in life. When the mind, body, and spirit are in harmony, individuals are more likely to feel a sense of fulfillment, joy and well-being.

Alignment Care is what I do for holistic health, restoring greater youthfulness, and healthy aging to our lives. My primary focus is to help you put your muscles and joints at ease for longevity.

TMD, or temporomandibular joint disorder, is a common condition that affects the jaw and its surrounding muscles and tissues. It is the most common cause of face pain of non-teeth origin and the second most common musculoskeletal condition, after chronic low back pain, leading to disability and pain.

TMD can range from mild discomfort to severe pain. The top complaints I hear related to the jaw are:

  • Pain or tenderness in the jaw, face, neck, or temples
  • Popping, clicking or grating sounds when opening or closing the mouth
  • Pain or discomfort when biting or chewing food
  • Headaches or migraines
  • Ear pain or ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness
  • Stiffness in the neck or jaw area
  • Tension or tightness in the jaw, face, neck or shoulders
  • Fatigue or difficulty sleeping
  • Brain fog

I provide several cutting edge treatments for TMD, ranging from self-care measures to more hi-tech modalities.

Some of the most common treatments for TMD include:

Self-care measures: This can include practicing good posture, avoiding hard or chewy foods, and avoiding clenching or grinding the teeth.

Hands-on therapy: This can include exercises to stretch and strengthen the jaw muscles, as well as heat or ice therapy to reduce pain and swelling.

Modalities: Lasers, TECAR deep heat, and pulse therapy help relieve pain and swelling associated with TMD.

Splints or mouth guards: These devices can be used to protect the jaw and teeth from further damage and to prevent clenching or grinding.

It’s important to correct other structural problems looking from the feet up to help create proper ALIGNMENT and repair damaged tissues.

A treatment worth trying before invasive procedures for TMD is called The Endonasal Balloon Technique. This is a non-surgical, non-invasive procedure used to treat Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD) and orofacial pain. The procedure involves the use of a small, flexible balloon that is inserted through the nostril and into the affected area in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). The balloon is then inflated with a precise amount of air, which gently stretches the tissues and reshapes the joint, helping to alleviate pain and discomfort.

The endonasal balloon technique offers several advantages over traditional surgical methods for treating TMD. For one, it is much less invasive, with no incisions or cuts made to the skin. Additionally, the procedure can be performed quickly and efficiently, typically taking only a few minutes to complete.

In many cases, patients experience significant improvement in their symptoms after just one or two procedures.

If you are experiencing symptoms of TMD or orofacial pain, the endonasal balloon technique may be a good option for you. You can schedule your session for this technique along with laser, TECAR or pulse therapy by calling the office at 310-444-9393

Some TMJ resists correction because of underlying osteoporosis. In all cases, protocol of raw bone supplements is indicated in TMJ cases.

Bio-dent and Biost are two popular nutritional supplements that are made from a blend of essential vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that are known to promote healthy teeth and gums.

One of the key ingredients in both Bio-dent and Biost is Vitamin C, which is essential for the production of collagen in the body. Collagen is a protein that helps to support the structure of the gums and helps to keep teeth in place. These supplements also contain Vitamin D, which is important for absorbing calcium and maintaining strong bones.

In addition to vitamins and minerals, Bio-dent and Biost also contain herbs and other natural ingredients that are known to support oral health. For example, both supplements contain Echinacea, which is a popular herb that is known for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. This herb is often used to help improve gum health and to reduce the risk of gum disease.
