Decarbonization refers to the process of significantly reducing or eliminating carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gas emissions from the atmosphere. It involves comprehensive changes across various sectors of the economy, including energy generation, production, and land management, to mitigate climate change. The goal of decarbonization is to create a sustainable environment by transitioning to cleaner energy sources and improving efficiency. Additionally, initiatives by organizations like the U.S. Department of Energy aim to advance decarbonization strategies that can create jobs and enhance the clean energy economy.
The United Nations' IPCC report now requires 10 billion tons of carbon removal per year by 2050, alongside steep emission reductions.
For scale, 4.2 billion tons of oil were produced globally last year. We need to build an industry twice the size of oil and gas in just 26 years to avoid the worst impacts of climate change and provide the next generation with the infrastructure to reverse it.
Charm Industrial was the first company to sequester permanently in 2021. Since then, we've developed several generations of carbon removal machines. We were Frontier Climate's first offtake customer through a $50 million deal, providing third-party validation that we can be a major player in this 10 billion ton/year market.
