Natural Family Planning (NFP) is an umbrella term for certain research-based fertility literacy methods that are used by married couples to achieve and avoid pregnancy.
The information gained by a woman who uses NFP also has a medical application since it provides data about her reproductive health. NFP methods have been in development since the late 1970s. Over the years, other terms have been used interchangeably with NFP.
