Dear Friends,
Did you know that Ordinary Time began this past Monday. What’s that all about? Most of us are aware of the seasons of the Christian calendar - Advent, Lent, Holy Week, and what we celebrated last Sunday…Pentecost. The period of time following Pentecost Sunday and continuing to the last Sunday before the beginning of Advent, is called Ordinary Time. Actually, this is the longest period of time of any season of the year. When we think of the word ordinary, most often we think of it’s meaning as “common” or “mundane”. But that is not the meaning here. It comes from the word ordinal - which simply means counted time. For me, it is a reminder to be a moment-by-moment person, who sees each hour of every day as an opportunity for personal growth and Kingdom building. So, it is interesting that the color assigned to this season is green, the color for growth. And the emphasis is the application of the teachings of Jesus to our life, daily. This is a great time to apply our hand of discipleship: loving God, loving others, living a life of surrender, living a life of generosity, living our life on mission (God’s purpose). To assist us through this season of growth, will be our ongoing series flowing out of 1st Corinthians, on how to live our life in light of the resurrection. Join me this Sunday as we take Our Journey into Wisdom.
