Pelvic Exam Law Clarified - Final Order!
The Florida Board of Medicine (BoM) has released a Final Order (in response to a Petition for Declaratory Statement filed by the FAFP, FMA, and others) clarifying SB 698, which requires written consent for pelvic exams. The following shows the FAFP advocacy efforts in action and appreciates the collaboration with its strong allies at the Florida Medical Association and the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association.

Although clearly the BoM does not have the statutory authority to change the wording of the law that went into effect July 1, 2020, the Board has made several interpretations that should help physicians in the future. A similar ruling is expected from the Florida Board of Osteopathic Medicine next month. Save Money This Year by "Going Solar"
Now may be the time to add solar panels to your home or practice. This month, the Academy’s My Green Doctor offers six reasons why “going solar” could be your best financial decision this year (reading time: 5 minutes):  https://www.mygreendoctor.org/save-money-this-year-by-going-solar/.

My Green Doctor is a free membership benefit from the Florida Academy of Family Physicians that saves our members money as our offices adopt wise environmental practices and as we share these ideas with our patients. This is how we can help prepare our patients for the health effects of climate change. Hundreds of offices use My Green Doctor. It adds just five minutes to each regular office staff meeting. My Green Doctor explains what to say and do at each meeting so there is nothing for the office manager to study. Ask your manager to register:  https://www.MyGreenDoctor.org/. Your patients will be impressed!
