It’s been a busy summer at MCEDC, and the activities are certain to carry over into an exciting 2020. Below, we list some of the key happenings:
- MCEDC continues to support the Town of Mooresville and the Mooresville Redevelopment Commission on the development, marketing and sales of Phase I of Mooresville Industrial Park including the RDC’s planned industrial spec building that is receiving considerable interest from business prospects. The availability of real estate has resulted in contacts from several local companies that are contemplating growth opportunities.
- MCEDC has been proactive in assisting with market speculation along the I-69 corridor with heightened interest in Martinsville’s future interstate interchange locations as well as in Grand Valley and at the Liberty Church Road interchange.
- MCEDC is working with its partners to determine if an industrial spec building can be developed on property owned by the Morgan County Redevelopment Commission in Waverly.
- With MCEDC assistance, the City of Martinsville is quickly processing a reiteration of its interest and intent to provide tax abatement for Flaherty & Collins’ downtown redevelopment known as The Retreat at Mineral Springs. The project involved the rehabilitation of three buildings in Martinsville for housing opportunities to benefit tenants that are over 55 years of age.
- The Town of Mooresville recently completed tax abatements for Powder Pro Coating Services to support the company’s reconstruction of its building and purchase of new personal property after a fire damaged the business in 2018.
- MCEDC is engaged with a handful of residential developers that are considering Morgan County’s housing needs and the opportunity to build new homes to support our growing workforce.
- Increased market interest in Westpoint Business Park near the I-70/SR 39 interchange that undoubtedly will change the landscape in both Morgan and Hendricks counties.
- Anticipated changes to the MCEDC website that will update our ability to provide information to businesses, site consultants seeking development locations and the central Indiana workforce that is seeking jobs as well as housing and lifestyle opportunities.
Activity is increasing as a result of current and anticipated growth of infrastructure capacities in Morgan County. We see it every day, and it is exciting to see the face of change coming to our key communities. Is your business ready to be part of the action?
