Hamilton Online Job Postings in June 2020

The number of job postings in Hamilton declined to its lowest levels in April at the peak of the economic lockdown. Since April, the postings have been climbing and the difference between the postings in 2019 and 2020 has been shrinking. In June, the total number of postings increased to 1,735, and the difference between job postings from 2019 and 2020 is only 78 postings. Therefore, there is are signs of recovery occurring in job postings and employment opportunities.
The largest occupation group decreases year over year are: Health occupations; Occupations in education, law and social, community and government services; and Business, finance and administration occupations. Health occupations and Occupations in education first have been greatly affected by the economic lockdowns with many shutdowns.  

The top job 10 postings for June in Hamilton are listed below. Five of the ten are the same as 2019 June (highlighted in yellow). Delivery and courier service drivers presumable are related to an increase of online shopping during the pandemic, while some of the other occupations may be related to phased openings as businesses and offices begin to reopen.
Note: The job postings are gathered from Vicinity Jobs. It is an online web crawler that gathers all the job postings available for Hamilton. There may be more job opportunities available that are not listed, but the trends in job postings correlate to the economic opportunities available.
