The Region 3 office had a full house on Tuesday, December 10. Over 50 teacher and ESP members learned how state special education laws affect the policies school districts adopt for disruptive student behaviors. WEAC attorney Rebecca Ferber Osborne presented the legal information. Then, in the second part of the program, members discussed how we, as union members, can develop successful issue organizing campaigns to make positive changes in our schools.

Disrupted learning is one of the big issues that members identified as a problem. You should know that WEAC is launching a Disrupted Learning Community Forum for 2020. Stay posted for opportunities to share your stories and become involved in this statewide issue organizing campaign.

In the meantime, you can read about what the Oregon Education Association (the state) is doing.

Here is a story about disrupted learning that we posted on the WR3 Facebook page.
