I Am an Artist:

Ability to Prioritize Creating

How often does creating get pushed to the bottom of the list? Between work, caregiving, survival, and constant responsibilities, creativity can start to feel optional instead of essential. This reflection explores what it means to make space for creating in your life and what shifts when creativity becomes something you protect, prioritize, and return to consistently. Whether creating feels distant or deeply integrated into your daily rhythm, this assessment offers a chance to examine the role it plays in your balance, identity, and wellbeing.

·      What makes a contract and how to negotiate better deals for yourself.

·      How to think about offers, acceptances, considerations and performance.

·      What happens when things go wrong and how to best plan for unforeseen issues.

This workshop is available both in person and virtually. For those joining in person, this workshop also features a live negotiation simulation where participants will pair up and practice negotiation from either side, knowing factors that the other side does not know!

100 Days of Joy

One Hundred Days of Joy is a collaborative/cross-country/virtual performance series bringing together 100 artists of all disciplines to create original work inspired by the theme: Joy as Resistance. In early 2027, one video will air per day for 100 consecutive days online. The process should spark joy for the artists involved and not feel draining or burdensome. It's a living, breathing counter-narrative to fear. If you make art and you believe joy matters right now!

Listen: Design Matters Podcast - Rick Rubin

In this episode of Design Matters, Rick Rubin reflects on creativity as more than making art. The conversation explores intuition, burnout, perfectionism, discipline, and what it means to create meaningful work over time. Rather than focusing on fame or success, Rubin talks about creativity as a way of paying attention to the world and yourself. It’s the kind of episode that makes you reconsider your relationship with creating and why it matters in the first place.
