Happy Summer!

Every August, I find myself smiling a little more. The farmers' market tables are overflowing, friends keep showing up with carrots and tomatoes from gardens that somehow grow far better than mine, and restaurant menus begin filling with fresh, local ingredients. It's one of my favorite times of year because it's a reminder of just how fortunate we are to live in a place where good food and the people who grow it are such an important part of our community.

This weekend, we celebrate the third year of the increasingly popular Clark Fork Pedal & Farm Tour. This leisurely 30-mile ride through forests, meadows, and riverbanks connects cyclists with the farmers, ranchers, and landowners who care for this remarkable landscape and help sustain our rural communities.

Throughout August, our calendar is filled with workshops and events celebrating local food, healthy soils, and the people who help nourish our region. Whether you're riding, learning, tasting, or simply shopping at your local farmers' market, every choice is an opportunity to support the landscapes and the people that make this place so special.

To our health,

DRY AS DIRT

The Place that Keeps our Story

A tiny scrap of paper, five favorite camping spots, and one unexpected realization about the place our family couldn't imagine celebrating anywhere else. This month's Dry as Dirt is about home, belonging, and why some places are worth protecting.

CONSERVATION

A Big Project with Long-Term Benefits

If you've visited Pine Street Woods recently, you've probably noticed work underway beneath the powerlines. Bonneville Power Administration crews (pictured below!) are replacing aging wooden transmission poles with new metal ones, an upgrade that will improve reliability while reducing wildfire risk.

We don't yet know how long the project will take, but we'll keep you updated along the way. Learn why this work is good news for Pine Street Woods in our full story HERE.

CONNECTION

Who will care for the lands we love in the future?

Meet Hanna, Rowan, and Addie, this year's KLT summer interns, and see how they're growing into the next generation of conservation leaders while making a difference in our community.

COMMUNITY

The Power of Working Together

Some of the most meaningful conversations don't happen about what we do, but how we do it. At the Rural Everywhere program, leaders from across the region explored why collaboration is one of rural communities' greatest strengths and why impact isn't always measured by the biggest numbers. Those ideas have the power to change how we think about serving our communities. READ MORE

Make it for the future

Creating a will is one of the most meaningful ways to care for the people you love. It's also an opportunity to reflect on the values that have shaped your life and the legacy you hope to leave behind.Whether your passion is family, the outdoors, or building community, a thoughtfully prepared will ensures what you care about today makes a difference tomorrow.

August is Make-A-Will Month, the perfect time to create or update your will. If you've been putting it off, our friends at FreeWill make the process easy. Take A Look and create a plan for the future.
