We have included the following major design areas in our proposed newly expanded Library building. This design has been recommended by the Hanson Public Library Building Committee and has been approved by the Library Board of Trustees. While we are still fine-tuning details, plans for each area contain the following:
Adult Collection & Reading Spaces
- Natural light, quiet seating, study tables, acoustic separation from active areas, lower shelving, and access to an outdoor reading garden
Children's and Young Adult Spaces
- Dedicated children’s room with early learning zone, storytime space, and access to an outdoor play area
- An intentionally separated but supervised teen and tween zone with room for gaming activities, reading, and socializing
Technology, Digital Learning & Innovation Areas
- Modular makerspace with storage for supplies
- Individual and small group study rooms
- Flexible tech access points
Community & Multi-Purpose Spaces
- Meeting/program room with after-hours access
- Multi-use rooms suitable for hosting lectures, civic meetings, book clubs, and workshops
- Access to a kitchen for use during events
Site and Building Access
- Central, accessible location on municipal land
- Additional parking with a charging station and bicycle rack
- Safe pedestrian access including crosswalks, drop-off zones, and ADA pathways
- Outdoor green spaces with reading terrace and children’s play area
