Growing Together in 2026: Homes, Community, and Opportunity

Open Application Cycle

We are now accepting homeownership program applications from January 1 through February 28, 2026, for families and individuals seeking affordable housing opportunities in Berthoud.

Honoring Tim, Our 2025 Builder of Hope

Some volunteers show up when they have time.

Others show up because something deeper is calling them.

In 2025, Tim dedicated many hours to our construction sites — earning him the Builder of Hope Award. But his story isn’t just about hours logged or skills learned. It’s about gratitude, resilience, and choosing to give back in a meaningful way.

Tim’s journey with Berthoud Habitat for Humanity began during a challenging season of his life. After living for two years with broken front teeth, Tim was finally able to receive dental care through Colorado’s Medicaid program, Health First Colorado. He paid for a portion of the care himself, and the state covered the rest.

That support stayed with him.

“I wanted to give back somehow,” Tim shared. “Volunteering with Habitat felt like the right opportunity.”

At the same time, Tim was exploring a career transition and looking for ways to reconnect — with people, with purpose, and with hands-on work. Habitat offered all three.

What truly stood out to him, and what kept him coming back week after week, was the meaning behind the work.

“Working toward such a positive and worthy goal made me feel good. Affordable housing is such a critical issue in this region.”

On site, Tim found more than tools and tasks. He found camaraderie. He learned new skills. He worked alongside people from all walks of life — future homeowners, fellow volunteers, and staff — each contributing in their own way toward a shared vision.

“You start to appreciate all the work happening behind the scenes. It’s inspiring to see it all unfold.”

For Tim, watching a home take shape fundamentally changed how he thinks about housing and community. Unlike traditional construction, Habitat homes are built with future homeowners — not just for them.

“That sweat equity creates a deeper appreciation for home. It’s not just a purchase — it’s a foundation for stability, pride, and generational wealth.”

Volunteering has also left a personal mark.

“It’s given me a sense of pride in myself. I contributed to something positive and meaningful. It gets you out of your head. Away from screens. You work with your hands and build something people will live their lives in. This is bigger than any one of us.”

To anyone considering volunteering but hesitating to take the first step, Tim offers this encouragement:

“Give it a try. Mix it up. Learn something new. Meet new people. Be part of an organization that’s doing something positive — especially right now.”

As we look toward 2026, Tim is excited about the new build sites ahead and the opportunity to continue being part of something that matters.

Tim, thank you for showing us what hope looks like in action — one hour, one wall, one home at a time.

Construction Update:

What 2026 Has in Store

As we look ahead to 2026, we’re excited to share what’s next for construction at Berthoud Habitat for Humanity.

This year, we’re working toward breaking ground in two new subdivisions — a milestone made possible by years of planning, partnership, and organizational growth.

Harvest 47

Harvest 47 will include nine lots, generously donated by Larry Bebo. This subdivision will be located behind L&M Enterprises and represents an important opportunity to expand affordable homeownership in Berthoud.

Majestic View

Majestic View, located next to Berthoud Elementary, is land that was purchased a few years ago. With the 4th Street subdivision nearing its final home after 25 years of work, we’re now ready to begin this next chapter.

We’re grateful for the partnerships and support that make this work possible, and we look forward to sharing construction progress as these projects take shape in the year ahead.
