Virtual Race
A Great Success!

Thank you to all of our supporters that participated in our recent Virtual Race Fundraiser. Board members, friends from throughout the United States and our tenants walked, ran and biked to raise funds to support our ministry. COVID-19 virus has had a major impact on our fundraising activities and a virtual race was a great way to stay safe, get some exercise and support our ministry. We appreciate your support!
Many Hands Make Light Work
Friends, family and co-workers celebrated the memory of Chuck Kranzusch, Conceptual Financial Advisors, LLC founder in October. They spent a beautiful autumn afternoon volunteering at FVLH. We are thankful to Chad, Jill, Alissa, Eric, Trevor, Michelle, Vicki and Chad for doing a fantastic job sprucing up our grounds.

Can You Share Your Computer Knowledge?

We need your help in assessing the computer needs of our office staff and volunteers at FVLH. We are seeking to upgrade four outdated workstations. We have gathered quotes from local companies but could use your help in comparing and assessing these quotes to ensure we are making a wise investment. If you can provide a few hours to guide us in this decision making process, please contact our Executive Director Lynn Ann Clausing Rusch.
Thanks to Thrivent and Their Policy Holders!
The Ministry of Fox Valley Lutheran Homes is able to continue to serve our tenants because of generous supporters. Are you a Thrivent policy holder that would like to support the social and/or education programs we offer to our tenants? You can apply for an Action Team grant to support a special need, project or activity right here at Linwood Place. Thrivent offers financial resources to increase the impact of the project. Featured below are examples of recent activities supported through Action Team grants.

Knock Knock FVLH tenants!! Here’s a tasty caramel apple from Sprangers Orchard in Kaukauna to let you know your fellow neighbors are thinking of you! Thank you to Thrivent policy holder Ozzie Rapp for applying for an Action Team grant to fund this project. Thanks to FVLH Party Planner extraordinaire Jackie Lindmair for her continued support!
Our Mission and Ministry Team has received an Action Team grant thanks to Thrivent policy holder and board member Pastor Leon Knitt to provide our tenants special "Thinking of You" treats during the next few months. In October, our tenants received a "Treat but NO TRICK" cookie with our board members Tommy Meltz and Pastor Leon delivering Halloween themed cookies from Festival. COVID has made life challenging and we want our tenants to know that we appreciate them.

Thanks to Thrivent policy holder Jeffrey Rusch, our birds will have an ample supply of suet to carry them through the winter months. We have a report of bird sightings at the feeders that were made by Liam Sullivan of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Combined Locks.
Check Out Our New Trees!
Several of the shade trees on both sides of our building had to be removed this year due to disease. Many of our tenants have been spending more time this year on their patios watching the birds and squirrels.

Thanks to a grant from the Trinity Foundation of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton, we were able to purchase three beautiful trees. Special thanks to one of our property committee members for planting the new ones! These trees will provide shade to our apartment patios, bird habitat and enhance our living environment.
Food Donations to Our Tenants

Many of our tenants have recently received food packages through the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program distributed by Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin. Special thanks to Board Member Jake Czarnik-Neimeyer for picking up and delivering the boxes of food. We continue to feel the support of our community as we shelter in place to remain virus free.
Make a Difference Day
Thanks to Volunteer Fox Cities for coordinating "Give Back for Make a Difference Day". Your thoughtful gifts of handmade cards and hand painted rocks and birdhouses brightened up our day and are bringing smiles to our tenant's faces.

Special thanks to ThedaCare Community Health Coordinator, Jean Blaney McGinnis for delivering the items made by Theda employees and their families.
New Ways to Respond to the Isolation of COVID

Thank you to the City of Appleton for Community Development Block Grant COVID-19 funding. Our COVID response request to provide WIFI access to our tenants in their apartments, a simple tablet device and one on one training and support has been approved.

We appreciate the opportunity to implement this request as way of providing much needed socialization to improve the physical and mental wellness of our older adult community.

In response to the isolation created by COVID-19, our tenants will use this technology to connect with family and friends using video chat applications, connect to resources such as the public library, on-line grocery shopping, worship services, virtual medical appointments and other entertainment options such as online crossword puzzles, etc.
