Fall is upon us, and we wanted to give all of you an update about what we’ve been up to all summer, as well as exciting news about new programs and services we’re adding to the calendar this fall.

SUMMER UPDATES & WHAT’S NEW FOR FALL
Lupus Mini-Conference Series
Our lupus mini-conferences, headlined by leading physicians and researchers, are held in English and Spanish annually and are for medical professionals, patients and loved ones. CEU credits are offered to California Registered Nurses. We are excited to be able to offer four conferences in 2019.
SPRING CONFERENCE - ENGLISH
Thank you to The African American Community Services Agency for their support and for offering their space for us to co-host an informative evening of health and wellness presentations. Special thanks to Dr. Tzielan Lee, M.D. and Norma L. Molina, RDN, of the American Diabetes Association for their presentations on Youth & Lupus, and Diabetes Basics & Prevention.
SUMMER CONFERENCE - ENGLISH
We thank our keynote speaker and patient panel participants for graciously offering their time for the July Mini-Conference! And speical thanks to Thomas M. Bush, M.D. for his informative presentation about lupus diagnosis and treatment options, and his continued commitment to bringing lupus awareness to the community.
SUMMER CONFERENCE - SPANISH
Thanks to Dr. Tania L. Rivera, M.D. from the Rheumatology Center of San Diego for her volunteering her time to give present the latest in lupus diagnosis and management of SLE. Many thanks also to the patients who graciously offered their time to share more about lupus with the community.
FALL CONFERENCE - ENGLISH
Join us at the fall conference, scheduled for October 26th in Oakland, CA. Topics include the Latest in Lupus Treatments and Patient Resources. We welcome speakers Dr. Cianna Leatherwood, and Dojo Aguilar to this FREE fall event.

Patient Education Classes
Our Patient Education Classes are led by trained instructors, and are designed for those newly diagnosed with lupus and their families. Classes focus on teaching patients & caregivers varied techniques of living everyday life with lupus. Please view our website for upcoming additions to the program calendar.

New Program
Living Well with Lupus
This month we are excited to introduce our new Living Well with Lupus Program. This new program aims to bring people living with lupus more access to activities, tips, and positive vibes that might help provide relief from the physical stress and emotional strain that comes with a diagnosis of lupus. The Lupus Foundation of Northern California will host Living Well with Lupus events varying in discipline and/or activity, and in different locations or virtually, to reach diverse interests and abilities.

Buddy Program Update
The Lupus Buddy Program aims to create, nurture and sustain an environment in which patients can share their experience and knowledge by pairing relatively experienced patients with newly diagnosed patients,the "lupus buddies." This great program continues to grow and we now have 245 people participating with 124 paired buddies!  Learn more about the Buddy Program .
