The December Buzz
The holiday season is all around us, and for some it's the best part of the year—but not for all. I have felt both sides of the spectrum depending on the year and the life events surrounding the season. I would imagine that many of us have felt both elated to spend holidays filled with joy and other times sad or depressed because of the pressures or stress of the season.

What's important to remember is that we can all relate to each other's experience whether it be positive or not. If we can remember to slow down and check in on one another, we can find solidarity amongst our friends and family who need it most. My hope for all of us is that we find the time to slow down and check in on a friend or loved one this holiday season.

Bee well,
Audrey

How to Deal with School Refusal & School Anxiety
New Digital Course For Parents
Is your child/teen struggling with anxiety related to school, resulting in them not wanting and/or refusing to go? Are you feeling stuck, frustrated and uncertain of how to best support them while still getting them out the door in the morning?

The school environment creates mental and physical symptoms of anxiety in many kids — which often causes them to want to avoid school altogether. As a parent, it's a challenge to understand how your child is feeling and how to provide support while being firm about their attendance.

Eric Stevenson, LPC & therapist at Simply Bee, works with many clients and families experiencing school refusal and school anxiety. He has created a new, 2-part online course to provide education on what anxious kids are experiencing, the cycle of anxiety & school refusal and what you can do as a parent to help your child manage symptoms and return to school. If you're struggling with this cycle in your home, be sure to check out this course today!

What's included:
  • 30 minutes of training videos broken up into 2 mini lessons
  • Emails to keep you engaged and provide additional resources
  • A downloadable PDF to help you put a family plan into action

This workshop was the first of a 2-part series, with Part 2 coming in January! Audrey taught five foundational steps for building emotional wellness through the Growth & Resiliency Model©. Through these five steps, parents learned how to build self-awareness, become a mindful observer, respond rather than react, integrate with an action plan and finally to reflect and adapt with a growth mindset.
Growing A Resilient Mind: Train The Trainer
Strong Girls United

Kelly Oberle, Simply Bee Consultant Facilitator, joined Strong Girls United mentors on their Mental Health Night to present our Train The Trainer Program.
This interactive program is designed to help athletes both develop their own growth mindsets and empower them to then take the easy-to-use material to teach their peers how to do the same. Utilizing the Growth & Resiliency Model© framework, this program teaches athletes the 4 key elements of awareness — thoughts, emotions, physical sensations and urges (BIG 4).
GARM PD Series: Part 1
Warren Township High School

On November 9th, Audrey Grunst, LCSW presented to both campuses of Warren Township High School educators on Become Aware.
