The February Buzz
Hello!

February is a short month and we have a lot going on here! In addition to a busy month, we are also busy celebrating Simply Bee's 4th Anniversary!

We opened our doors February 1, 2018 and had a smooth few years before Covid-19 struck in 2020. It's hard to believe that just two years ago suspend in person services—but not for long! I am SO proud of our team's ability to maintain in person therapy from June 2020 to now. Our team has committed to working in a safe and heathy environment despite extraordinary barriers and uncertainty.

I believe that because of our persistence to remain in person, we are busier than ever. I appreciate your patience as we continue to grow our team with only the best clinicians. This sometimes means we have a waitlist during high call volume periods such as January-May. If we cannot serve our callers we provide referrals to trusted partners in the community. Our promise is to provide quality work, individualized care, and growth to meet your needs. Thank you for trusting us and we are excited to make our 4th year stronger and better!

Sincerely,
Audrey

Draw It Out: How To Use Creativity to Unlock Yourself
It can be hard for people to put heavy thoughts and feelings into words—sometimes they are more easily expressed through creative outlets.  Art is proven to be a powerful therapeutic tool, but many people avoid tapping into it because they think they need to be a talented artist to get anything out of it.

In response to this common misconception, therapist Kerry Ramirez, LCPC wrote an e-book all about the therapeutic benefits that expressing creativity through art and other mediums can bring to everyone.

This e-book dives into how to find your 'flow', how to let go of judgment and think outside of the box, how to apply art into your daily life, and provides activities to encourage you to continue to tap into creativity beyond this book.

Whether you're a parent, student, professional, athlete, or anything in-between, creativity is in our nature. Be sure to download this free e-book resource to give yourself or a loved one a chance to express themselves in new and exciting ways.
We welcome sharing this resource, that's why we created it!
However, we ask that you please share it through this link.

High School Athletes Mental Performance Clinic
Sports provide athletes with so many benefits, from physical activity, to friendship and connection, to purpose and inspiration. While coaches are tasked with keeping their players in tip-top physical shape, what's often missed is the mental training that makes a huge impact on not only athletic success but overall happiness. Many athletes are highly self-motivated, but this can often come at the expense of their mental and emotional health. This workshop series is designed to help athletes let go of over-controlling tendencies, boost their confidence, build resilience, find connection, and set healthy boundaries.

Join facilitator Audrey Grunst, LCSW for this unique 8-session workshop that incorporates evidence-based practices and her 5-step Growth & Resiliency Model©. Athletes will learn how to find optimal control, let go of controlling others, accept change, loosen up tension, rebound from failure, become confident, and keep healthy relationships with teammates and coaches—both on and off the court/field!

Workshop details:
  • When: February-June | 2/22, 3/8, 3/22, 4/12, 4/26, 5/10, 5/24, 6/7
  • Time: 8:00-9:30 PM
  • Who: Athletes Grades 9-12
  • Athlete must be open and willing to participating

After the first session, we will check in with you and your athlete to see if this clinic is a good fit. If it is and your athlete would like to continue, a second payment of $200 will be charged 30 days from the date of purchase. If it is not a good fit, you will not be charged for the second payment of $200.

Creative Workshop for Teens - April 10th
Walk In My Shoes
Has your teen ever said, "You don't know what it's like to be me!"?

Everyone's story is unique. We all come from different walks of life, but we usually have a lot more in common than we think. Sharing our individual experiences with others does a lot to deepen our sense of community, decrease feelings of isolation and increase our ability to feel empathy for others.

Expressing these stories through words can be a challenge, especially for teens. Art is a powerful tool that provides them the opportunity to express themselves in a way that feels more comfortable and intuitive.

This workshop, co-facilitated by Simply Bee's Katie Klein, LCPC, and William Barnard, Director of Glencoe Youth Services, will be a safe space for teens to find connection and share their stories using a shoe as their blank canvas. Through the use of art and a group experience, teens will be given the opportunity to express what it's like to walk in their shoes – and create a shared appreciation that we can, in fact, understand what it's like to walk in other people's shoes.

Details:
  • When: Sunday, April 10th, 5:00-6:30PM
  • Where: 847 Running Company: 406 N Milwaukee Ave, Libertyville

This workshop is free to all participants and all materials will be provided. Register now to hold your spot—space is limited!
