Hello & Happy Spring!
I love the innate feeling of growth that spring carries with it as we transition out of winter. We're still in period of ever-changing times with the pandemic, the weather, daylight savings time and the push towards the end of the school year – and the feeling of uncertainty is probably all too familiar at this point. My hope for you is that there is light at the end of the tunnel which allows for renewed feelings of optimism and hope.
In the spirit of Spring and renewed energy, we are excited to share this month's events with you. We are offering a wide variety of events to explore mental health beyond therapy. There are opportunities for adults, teens and families to engage in and reconnect with the community.
Thanks,
Audrey

Girls' Life Magazine - Dec/Jan Issue
|
|
Most people set New Year's Resolutions or Intentions in January and come this time of year, perhaps you realize that in the busyness of day-to-day life, you've long since forgotten the goals you set.
What's the easiest way to get back (or stay) on track, you ask?! Check out the Dec/Jan edition of Girls' Life Magazine to see Audrey Grunst, LCSW & CEO of Simply Bee share some tips!
She recommends knowing your core values and always keeping those at the forefront of your decision-making:
"If you know your values, you feel empowered
to make hard decisions and set good boundaries."
As you review the resolutions you set at the start of the new year, be sure to have one that's focused on how you can add value to your community. "When we give back we feel important, it's a big boost to your self-esteem."
So if you find yourself having strayed from your intentions, no shame & no blame. Just take this opportunity to reset and refocus. If you don't know your top 5-10 core values, check out this resource on how to identify them. We're cheering you on!

Walk In My Shoes: A Creative Workshop for Teens
April 10th
|
|
Has your teen ever said, "You don't know what it's like to be me!"?
Everyone's story is unique. We all come from different walks of life, but we usually have a lot more in common than we think. Sharing our individual experiences with others does a lot to deepen our sense of community, decrease feelings of isolation and increase our ability to feel empathy for others.
Expressing these stories through words can be a challenge, especially for teens. Art is a powerful tool that provides them the opportunity to express themselves in a way that feels more comfortable and intuitive.
This workshop, co-facilitated by Simply Bee's Katie Klein, LCPC, and William Barnard, Director of Glencoe Youth Services, will be a safe space for teens to find connection and share their stories using a shoe as their blank canvas. Through the use of art and a group experience, teens will be given the opportunity to express what it's like to walk in their shoes – and create a shared appreciation that we can, in fact, understand what it's like to walk in other people's shoes.
Details:
- When: Sunday, April 10th, 5:00-6:30PM
- Where: 847 Running Company: 406 N Milwaukee Ave, Libertyville
- Who: Teens ages 13-18
This workshop is free to all participants and all materials will be provided.
Register now to hold your spot—space is limited!
