Help MCC Collect Food for SHARE of McLean!
The McLean Community Center is collecting nonperishable food for SHARE of McLean through Friday, Dec. 19. Donations will be accepted in marked boxes at both the MCC lobby and The Old Firehouse Center during regular hours. SHARE’s most-needed list can be found here and includes canned protein, canned fruit, canned vegetables, rice, cereal and much more. If you are able, please consider helping our neighbors in need together.

McLean Winterfest Parade
A Cherished McLean Tradition
The McLean Revitalization Corporation is excited to present the 2025 McLean Winterfest Parade on Sunday, Dec. 7, celebrating the warmth and magic of the season. The festivities begin with a Pre-Parade Showcase at 2:30 p.m. at the Langley Shopping Center, followed by the Winterfest Parade at 3:30 p.m. along Old Chain Bridge Road. Afterward, stick around for the brand-new Winterfest Block Party at 5 p.m., featuring Santa photos, live music, food vendors and family fun. Community groups, schools and businesses are invited to participate or sponsor this cherished McLean tradition.

“Behind the Burly Q: The Story of Burlesque in America”

“Behind the Burly Q” dives deep into the vibrant, often misunderstood world of American burlesque during its golden age in the early-to-mid 20th century. The movie gives burlesque the historical and cultural spotlight it deserves, peeling back the glittery curtain to reveal both the glamour and grit of this uniquely American form of live entertainment.
Running time: 1 hour, 38 minutes.
Not rated. Not recommended for audiences under 18 years old.

The duo has been featured on NPR's "Performance Today" and are founding members of the Phillips Camerata, in addition to regularly performing, coaching and adjudicating for Washington Performing Arts events.

Celebrate seasonal cheer at this delightful three-day indoor juried show featuring approximately 80 talented regional artisans. For more than 40 years, this one-of-a-kind show has offered gifts for every budget including pottery, glass, jewelry, holiday decor, mixed media, fashion accessories, wood, fine art, artisanal foods, soaps and more. Stroll to music as you shop and enjoy lunch or a beverage at the onsite café. Show management is provided by the Northern Virginia Handcrafters Guild. Founded in 1972, the NVHG, a 501(c)3 nonprofit community-based organization, is dedicated to helping artists and craftspeople exhibit and sell their work, promoting the development of arts and crafts in the community and supporting arts and crafts educational activities.

Exploring Boundaries in Parenting: Pros, Cons and Consequences

Financial Planning: For Families with Special Needs Children
As parents, our priority is the care and support of our children. In this seminar, we remind parents to “put your air mask on first.” We review the necessary steps to establish sound financial plans for parents and discuss the unique ways they must plan. Extra focus is on the needed estate, retirement and long-term care plans that help ensure parents are in the best place themselves, so they are better able to care for their children. Bernie Boston Retrospective
Bernard (Bernie) Boston Retrospective: A Photojournalist, Social Justice Advocate and Family Man
Our Winter Atrium Gallery exhibition features the photography of award-winning photojournalist Bernie Boston, who made history as the first African American member of the White House press corps, covering every president from Truman through Clinton. He was a longtime McLean resident and former chairman of the McLean Community Center Governing Board (1977-1979). The exhibit features framed photographs from his fascinating, decades-long career and is presented in collaboration with Friends of Historic Pleasant Grove Church in McLean, which is hosting a concurrent exhibition featuring additional photos. The next time you're at the MCC, go up the ramp at the front entrance and enjoy our Children's Art Walk, currently on display in MPA's Ramp Gallery. The art was collected by art teachers from McLean community public and private schools and was on display in McLean Central Park for our recent MPAartfest. Don't miss seeing the work of these talented young artists!
