What's Fresh at the Historic Lewes Farmers Market:
Thirty-three farmers/producers will bring apples, varieties of winter squashes, beans, potatoes, broccoli, carrots, pumpkins, beets, radishes, eggplant, fresh ginger, garlic, spring onions, plums, pears, kale, stir-fry mix, cucumbers, peppers, paw paws, oysters, live crabs, hand-picked crab meat, crab soup, seasonal soups, honey, jams, mushrooms, chicken, beef, pork, turkey, duck, lamb, freshly laid eggs, locally roasted coffee and coffee drinks, kombucha, cold-pressed juices, fresh-baked breads, cakes, cookies, pies, and pastries—including vegan and gluten-free selections—made with fruit from vendors at the Market, herb, veggie, and flower plants, fresh-cut herbs, beautiful cut-flower bouquets, and much more.
The HLFM is unique in that it is producer-only—customers connect directly with the farmer who grew the produce and raised the animals to buy their local fruit, veggies, eggs, dairy, and meats. This Market is where the farmers are—the most farmers in any farmers market in the Delmarva!

Special Demo from Bodhi Kitchen at 10am in Partnership with the History Book Festival
At the Market this Saturday, the Historic Lewes Farmers Market will host a very special History Book Festival event. At the demo tent at 10am, Michelle King, the author of Chop Fry Watch Learn: Fu Pei-mei and the Making of Modern Chinese Food, will team up with Bodhi Kitchen to demonstrate how home cooks can integrate the wonderful, fresh Asian ingredients available through local farms into their everyday meals. The Market Demonstration will feature Lion Gardner, co-founder of Second Block Hospitality, and Bodhi Kitchen Executive Chef Beau Fazio preparing dumplings with Enoch Farms pork and veggies found at the Market. Don’t miss this special event, presented in partnership with the History Book Festival, and the chance to pick up a signed copy of the featured book.

HLFM's Food Pantry Purchase Program—
Help Your Favorite Farmers
and Local Food Pantries
| HLFM customers who want to help feed the local community with fresh local food may purchase produce, meats, milk, and other food from growers at the Market to donate to the local Food Pantries, including Epworth and Casa San Francisco Food Pantries, every Saturday. It’s so easy--all you have to do is let the vendor know what you want to donate or give $5, $10, $25 to the grower and ask them to put together a selection for the food pantries. The farmer gets your sale, and the food pantry gets the local food. We thank you for your generosity! | |
SNAP, WIC, SFMNP—
HLFM Matches up to $20 of SNAP
Per Market
| The Market will continue to match SNAP benefits up to $20 per market, per customer. You can find the SNAP tent inside the Market with volunteers to process your SNAP/EBT and give you the HLFM tokens that can be used at market all season long. WIC and SFMNP benefits are also welcome at the Market. | |
ATTENTION DOG OWNERS:
Please note that dogs and other pets (except for Service Dogs) are not permitted inside the Market. This is to ensure the safety of customers, vendors, and volunteers.
| |
|
PARKING:
Parking is limited, so customers should walk or bike to the Market if they are able. The circle in front of the Fred Thomas Building at the foot of Dupont will be open for accessible drop-off and pick-up, with some spots available for accessible parking only. With the addition of new sidewalks to George H.P. Smith Park, one of the best places customers can park is at the main parking lot at the Lewes Elementary School (where the Market moves if it rains) at 820 Savannah Road. Please do not block any school buses. Please drive carefully when parking for the Market and watch for children, walkers, and bikers around the Park.
| |
Do you come to the Market all the time and wonder what those folks in green aprons do? Well, you can find out by volunteering for the non-profit Historic Lewes Farmers Market, almost totally run by volunteers. There are two shifts for volunteers, so you only have to commit to a two-hour period. | We are always looking for new volunteers to join us during our Fall Market, so if you are interested in volunteering, click the photo to fill out our interest form!
|
|
Reminder:
the HLFM is a rain or shine Market!
Our rain location is Lewes Elementary School Parking Lot at 820 Savannah Rd, Lewes, DE 19958.
