What's Fresh at the Historic Lewes Farmers Market:
Customers looking for fresh local cauliflower, cabbage, lima beans, acorn squash, collard greens, kale, broccoli, butternut squash, or apple cider jams will find them all at this Saturday’s Fall Market. The harvest is in, and Market farmers are also bringing lemongrass, luffas, potatoes, Brussel sprouts, sweet potatoes, carrots, turnips, lettuces, Asian pears, apples, freshly pressed apple cider, oysters, live crabs, hand-picked crab meat, crab soup, crab salad, seasonal soups, honey, jams, mushrooms, chicken, beef, pork, turkey, lamb, freshly laid eggs, locally roasted coffee and coffee drinks, kombucha, fresh-baked breads, cakes, cookies, pies, and pastries—including vegan and gluten-free selections—made with fruit from vendors at the Market, apple cider donuts, beautiful flower bouquets, wreaths, and much more. Customers can also pre-order their fresh, free-range Thanksgiving turkeys from Mahon River Farm.
The HLFM is unique in that it is producer-only—customers connect directly with the farmer who grew the produce and raised the animals to buy their local fruit, veggies, eggs, and meats. This Market is where the farmers are—the most farmers in any farmers market in the Delmarva!

Don't Miss our Final Market Events of the Season!
- Nov. 16th - Food Drive and Volunteer Appreciation Day
Customers can bring donations from home or purchase food at the Market for the HLFM's Food Drive, and join us in thanking our volunteers for their dedication this Market season!
- Nov. 23rd - Food Drive and Final Market
At the Final Market of the 2024 season, customers will stock up on their Market favorites, and have another opportunity to donate food to the Food Drive before Thanksgiving.
| |
The Historic Lewes Farmers Market will again be holding its annual extra Food and Essentials Drive at the last two Markets of the season—November 16th and 23rd.
The HLFM will collect at the HLFM Food Drive table near the HLFM Information Tent to supplement two food pantries—Epworth UMC in Rehoboth Beach and Casa San Francisco in Milton. The food pantries request certain non-perishables including spaghetti sauce, pasta, peanut butter, jams and jellies, canned fruits/vegetables/soups, boxed cereal, powdered or shelf-stable milk, rice, and beans. Please honor the HLFM's mission and the health needs of folk who use the food pantries by providing healthy foods. Diapers, menstrual hygiene products, and laundry detergent are also badly needed. Pantries are always looking for fresh produce, meat, and eggs, so customers are also urged to purchase fresh food at the Market for this Food Drive. There will also be carts at the further entrances to the Market for customers to place their shelf-stable items from home.
Please include your kids and grandchildren in supporting our community and giving to the food drive—any child that brings a donation to the Food Drive table will get a free fruit or veggie temporary tattoo!

PARKING AT LEWES ELEMENTARY SCHOOL:
We encourage customers to bike or walk to the Market if you are able. Entrance for walkers and bikers is off Savannah Road. Parking is available in the school's bus loop parking lot off of Sussex Drive–with coned off accessible parking spaces in the section closest to the Market. Customers may also use the new Fred Thomas Middle School parking lot. Beebe Hospital generously allows Market customers to park in its outside parking lot, and there is also parking available at George H.P. Smith Park, a short walk on the path to LES.

ATTENTION DOG OWNERS:
Please note that dogs and other pets (except for Service Dogs) are not permitted inside the Market. This is to ensure the safety of customers, vendors, and volunteers.

HLFM's Food Pantry Purchase Program—
Help Your Favorite Farmers
and Local Food Pantries
| HLFM customers who want to help feed the local community with fresh local food may purchase produce, meats, milk, and other food from growers at the Market to donate to the local Food Pantries, including Epworth and Casa San Francisco Food Pantries, every Saturday. It’s so easy--all you have to do is let the vendor know what you want to donate or give $5, $10, $25 to the grower and ask them to put together a selection for the food pantries. The farmer gets your sale, and the food pantry gets the local food. We thank you for your generosity! | |
SNAP, WIC, SFMNP—
HLFM Matches up to $20 of SNAP
Per Market
| The Market will continue to match SNAP benefits up to $20 per market, per customer. You can find the SNAP tent inside the Market with volunteers to process your SNAP/EBT and give you the HLFM tokens that can be used at market all season long. WIC and SFMNP benefits are also welcome at the Market. | |
|
Do you come to the Market all the time and wonder what those folks in green aprons do? Well, you can find out by volunteering for the non-profit Historic Lewes Farmers Market, almost totally run by volunteers. There are two shifts for volunteers, so you only have to commit to a two-hour period. | We are still looking for new volunteers to join us during our Fall Market, so if you are interested in volunteering, click the photo to fill out our interest form!
