Letter from the Executive Director

Dear Friends of Hope for Humanity (HFH) ,

In October 2020, phase one to reopen a limited number of classes in the primary and secondary schools of South Sudan began after the six month closure mandated by the South Sudanese Ministry of Education due to COVID-19. In phase one, primary eight and secondary four students could return to classes.  Hence classes resumed for our fourth year students at Hope and Resurrection Secondary School (HRSS).

Since October 2020, our 53 students (17 girls and 36 boys) in the graduating class have been working diligently to complete their last year of secondary school and prepare for their national examinations. They are almost finished!  Exams are scheduled to take place in about a month.

Thank you for making education possible at Hope and Resurrection Secondary School, and especially during the 2020-2021 pandemic year!

With Joy and gratitude,
Suzanne M. Hicks, M.Div.

Senior 4 Class Hard at Work!

The senior 4 class has been attending classes six days a week with extended hours each day, so they can complete their last year of classes at Hope and Resurrection Secondary School and sit for the National Examination.  These students are resilient and dedicated to their work. They managed to make-up for lost time due to COVID-19. Recently they took practice examinations and performed above expectations! We are so very proud of their performance and can see from the classroom pictures below, that they are working hard in their lessons and doing it with diligence and joy! Another class will graduate soon and join the 200 plus HRSS Alumni!
