God of Comfort – Our hearts are heavy from the news of the devastating floods along the Guadalupe River in Texas. News of disasters beyond our control weigh deeply on our hearts and fill us with questions and grief as we try to make sense of these tragic events. In our questions and our grief, please give us hope that the worst thing is never the last thing. 

God of Healing, we lift up to you our brothers and sisters in Texas who are experiencing unimaginable grief and devastation in the aftermath of flood waters that left their lives forever changed. Sustain them with your Spirit. Give them assurance that even in times when all is lost the hope of the resurrection remains the same. When their pain is too deep for words, hold them close and bring them comfort as only you can do.

Holy Spirit, be present with the first responders, rescue workers, and volunteers who are risking their own safety to help others. Grant them courage, strength, and endurance. Guide the hands of those providing relief, the hearts of those offering comfort, and the spirits of those rebuilding.

Lord, transform our compassion into action. Show us how we can extend practical love beyond our prayers with those who are suffering. Remind us that your love is active, your hope is resilient, and your mercy knows no boundaries.

Help us to be bearers of hope, agents of healing, and vessels of your unending love. When the waters of despair threaten to overwhelm, remind us of your promise – that you are always present, always working, always redeeming.

In the name of Jesus, who walks with us through every storm, we pray. Amen.
