Network For Youth is doing a collection of backpacks for homeless. Donna asks that backpacks are unfilled (easier for storage) and supplies grouped in items that fit together. Some ideas of helpful bag fillers include: wet wipes, deodorant, antibacterial hand gel, the little $1 rain ponchos, hand warmers, chap sticks, band aids, Tylenol/Ibuprofen, sanitary items for women, Kleenex packs, tooth brush/paste, socks, and snacks. Also, every Saturday, Donna makes a soup meal that is available all day for those in need of warm meal. She has started using the Bear Paw Soup Mix from the store. If you wish to drop off supplies, you can do so at Network For Youth, 21 S. 2nd Street, BRF.

The Alpaca General Store: It's that time of year again. The chill of an early fall reminds us that before we know it, winter will be at our doorsteps along with the season for gift giving. Get a jump start on holiday shopping by checking out the unique and warm gifts at our farm store. Our family has raised alpacas since 2006 and the store is located on the farm and showcases the fleece products produced as well as small gift items made on site. We offer yarn, fleece, socks, scarves, and many other handmade items from knitwear and wovens to handmade wood cutting boards. Open seasonally Saturdays in November 10 am-4 pm up until Christmas. Other times by appointment of chance. Look for the red barn and store located at W12766 County Road P, BRF.

Scholarship Opportunity -  The AXA Achievements Scholarship provides over $1.4 million in scholarships to young people throughout the nation representing all 50 states, Washington DC and Puerto Rico. Students have the opportunity to receive a $2,500, $10,000 or $25,000 scholarship. In addition, for every student who wins a scholarship, a grant in the amount of $1,000 will be made to the winner’s school.

Jackson County ATV/UTV Trail Update

We hope you continue to enjoy our beautiful trails and visit this wonderful part of Wisconsin. It is always our number one priority to provide a safe and enjoyable experience. Trails will re-open on December 15 for the winter.

7            11th Annual Christkindl Festival will be held in the beautiful downtown Black River Falls. There will be a tree lighting on Friday December 6, 2019 at 5pm on the Courthouse Lawn. Saturday will start with a Santa Fun Run at the Chamber of Commerce and pictures with Santa at the BR Country Bank and Jackson County Bank. Grinch Waffles at Revolution Coffee and Santa will be at The Wright Place. Decorate cookies with BRFPD and the Jackson Count Sherriff Deputies at Reflections on Water. Text Santa at Mobile Life, Selfie Station at New York Life and Tinsel and Tats at the Black River Tattoo. Christkindl Coronation will be at 10am, followed by a kids court the day and Baker Sale for the BRF Figure Sakting Club. Don’t forget to mail your letters to Santa at The General Merchant Store. There will be reindeer on the courthouse lawn, Bergs Horsedrawn Trolley Rides downtown and the Fevolden Farm Alpacas by Smiley Bear. Stop into Millie J’s to decorate your lantern to carry in the parade at 5pm! Enjoy Sand Creek Brewery Tours all afternoon. 7            Warrens area residents ~ of all ages ~ are invited to attend the 11 th Annual Warrens Community Christmas from 10am-1pm at the Warrens Lions Log Building. Santa Claus will be there to give all the good little girls and boys a stocking filled with goodies! There will be various actives for the children, including making Christmas ornaments and decorating Christmas cut-out cookies.

The Highground is a 155 acre Memorial Park that pays tribute to the dead, and honors the survivors, their service, and their sacrifices. The Highground has a Dove Effigy Mound, a Meditation Garden, a developmental forest with 4 miles of hiking trails, and a Museum. We have now added a 300 acre camp just 20 minutes north of The Highground, which will be used to host Veteran Retreats and other Highground events. We continue to pursue our mission of healing and education through added tours, Educational Days, and various expos. We are a 501(c)3 grass-roots effort, with no ongoing federal or state funding. Volunteers and contributors are the Heart of The Highground.
