The 7th Street parking lot is still closed to Millston. This will remain closed for the season due to a bridge failure, the remaining trail system is open.

All other trails are open for riding.

Calling all photographers! 
We need new photos for the 2020 Black River Country Visitor's Guide and for our website! We are looking for all types of photos - scenery, wildlife, ATVing, snowmobiling, skiing, paddling, fishing, etc.
We will pick one photo to be used as the main cover shot for the 2020 Visitor's Guide. The person who submits the winning cover shot will receive $100 in Chamber Bucks and will receive photo credit in the guide. Any photos used on our website or inside the guide will also be given photo credit. Please submit photos no later than August 31st to:  chamber@blackrivercountry.net .

Cain's Orchard will be open for the season, August 24, with ready picked early apples and U-Pick Elliot Blueberries. Fall hours August 24- October are 9:00AM-7:00PM.

The Friends of the Black River are looking for volunteers to help with its annual river cleanup Saturday, Aug. 24. Volunteers are asked to meet at 8 a.m. at Al Young Park at the south end of First Street in Black River Falls to be assigned a section of the river. Volunteers may paddle the river or walk along the shore to collect trash. FBR will provide a complementary lunch to volunteers at noon at Al Young Park. To get a count for the lunch, volunteers are asked to contact FBR President Steve Rake at 715-284-2087 or by e-mailing  info_fbr@yahoo.com  by August 22.

15       Black River Falls Public Library : Will have a Library Resource Demo at 1:30pm and Microsoft Word Basics at 2pm.

15       Jackson County Bank will have their Customer Appreciation Picnic at the Lunda Park from 4:00-7:00pm. Register for over $500 in cash prizes. Free pork and beef sandwiches with all the fixings! For the kids, drawing for prizes, inflatable play area and face painting. Music by Sean Jordan will start at 5:00pm.

15       Jackson County Farmers Market of Diploma Drive by the Lunda Center will be open from 2 to 6 pm.

15       Garden Valley Gathering is celebrating Thirsty Thursdays. Starts at 5 pm. Food will be available each week. Follow them on Facebook for weekly updates.

16       Living Waters presents Stephen Witt in concert. Steven is a worship pastor from Minneapolis. Formed in 2014 lead vocalist and pianist Stephen Witt will usher us into the presence of the Lord. Bring a friend and a chair. Concert will be held outdoors or in a wedding barn. Starts at 7 pm. 16       Black River Falls Public Library -Final day to return summer reading program log sheets, bookmarks and bingo cards!

16       Republican Party Membership Special Caucus at 16 N. Water Street, Brf at 6:30 pm. A special caucus/general meeting for all Jackson County Republican Party members will be held Friday August 16th at 6:30 p.m. at the GOP office. The purpose of the meeting is to review the financial needs of our party as we move into the critical 2020 election and elicit financial support for the maintenance of our GOP office. We’ll discuss payment options, including automatic monthly withdrawals, and other ways you can assist our county party. Your attendance and commitment is needed. The party has two individuals who have agreed to match monthly donations up to a joint total of $400 per month, but need your help to get to our goal of $1,000 per month. Mark your calendars and plan to attend! Heavy hors d’oeuvres (i.e., food) will be provided and the meeting is actually open to anyone wishing to provide financial assistance.

17       Highground 19 th Annual Ride to Remember . This annual motorcycle ride will be honoring POW’s and MIAs/KIAs with special recognition to those from the US Navy. All proceeds go to The Highground! Registration is $25, includes rides, patch or rocker, lunch and free ticket to the concert. Breakfast will be available for purchase from 8:30-11:00am, registration starts at 10:00am, guided rides being at the American Legion #73 at 11:00am, and Procession into The Highground, Group Photo, and Rally Ceremony at The Highground will start at 3:00pm. The Blasterz will start at 8pm- open to the public with a $5 cover.

17       Wildlife Day at the Farm- Cain’s Orchard. Enjoy watching wildlife, birding, berry picking, cookout, campfire, camping and an organized hike. A fun event for the whole family! This is a day to learn about sustainable farming, coexistence in nature and celebrate Wisconsin wildlife. The event will also showcase businesses across Wisconsin that recognize that outdoor recreation supports, contributes to a high quality of life and attracts and sustains employers and families.

17       Move with a Doc! Bring your friends and family for a healthy Saturday Morning Walk with some of our local medical providers. Take 10 minutes to learn about a health topic, and then spend the rest of the hour walking your own pace chatting with providers. Strollers and wheelchairs are welcome! Water will be provided! Meet at the Farmers Market and we will start walking at 9am.

17       Gage Wright Memorial Ride at The Wright Place from 9 am to Noon. We have created this Ride in honor of our son Gage and to raise Suicide Prevention Awareness. Breakfast buffet, kickstands up at 11 am, Live music to follow ride (TBA) Raffles, 50/50 raffle. Single riders - $25, Couple's $30. We are accepting donations for Raffle items! 17       The Annual Skyline Women’s Association 4 Person Scramble! Registration is at 10:30am and Tee-off starts at Noon. Cost is $25 per member or $45 per non-member, includes 18 holes of golf, dinner, and a chance to win various prizes!! You can sign up in the clubhouse as an individual or with your team (men, women, or mixed). Prizes will be awarded to the highest scoring teams! There will also be fun games with prizes to win at different holes along the course. The fund raised will be used toward continued course improvement.

18       Jackson County Humane Society and The Jackson County Animal Shelter are hosting a Hart 2 Heart Memorial Walk from 3 to 8 pm. In memory of Dr. Lyle Hart we will be bringing together our community to celebrate his life and raise funds to support the Jackson County Humane Society. Contact (715) 284-0251 for more information.

20       2019 Entertainment in the Park -Black River Falls High School Marching Tigers will perform from 7-8pm. Tune to WWIS Radio-99.7 for cancellations.

20       Black River Memorial Hospital (BRMH) will host the Stepping On program. Participants will learn why they fall and how to prevent falls. This program will include strength and balance exercises. Participants will be given a list of home safety tips and a medication review. Holly Freeman, BRMH Occupational Therapist, shares, “Participants will leave with more strength, better balance, and confidence in independent living.” This class is ideal for people who can walk and are living on their own. Research shows, this program can reduce the chance of falling by thirty-one percent. Stepping On will be at the Lunda Community Center. 21       Jackson Electric Member Picnic will be from 4-7pm at the Jackson County Fair Park. Members will enjoy brats with all the traditional picnic sides.
