Earth Day in Woonsocket!

Woonsocket has a proud tradition of celebrating Earth Day through community clean-ups and this year, we’re going bigger. Did you know Earth Day engages more than 1 billion people worldwide each year, making it the largest civic event on the planet? Here in Woonsocket, we’re building on that global momentum by expanding clean-up efforts across our neighborhoods to make an even greater local impact.

Thanks to a Litter-Free RI grant, the City is providing volunteer groups with supplies like bags, gloves, and litter pickers to support their efforts. On Earth Day, City staff will deliver materials directly to your clean-up site and help coordinate media coverage to spotlight the incredible work happening across our community.

Want to be part of it? Join a team or start your own! Just send us an email to get involved. Every bag of litter collected makes a difference. Let’s show what Woonsocket can do!

Senior Fitness Classes

Jack Paskanik leads a group of seniors through resistance band exercises as part of the Mayor's Health and Wellness Club at the Elks.

Woonsocket offers a variety of fun, accessible health and wellness activities for seniors:

Aging Well Inc. (84 Social St.) has a full lineup of programs and is expanding its offerings this season. Stay tuned as they prepare to cut the ribbon on their brand-new outdoor activity space and pickleball court, just in time for spring!

The Mayor’s Health & Wellness Club meets at the Elks (380 Social St.) on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 9 AM, and features strength, balance, and cognitive exercises to keep both body and mind active. Looking for something a little more social? Join the cornhole club on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10 AM! To help support this free program, there will be a Garlic Connection porketta dinner at the Elks on May 11. Stop by a fitness class to buy tickets!

CDBG Public Service Funding Now Open!

Woonsocket Situation Table

The Woonsocket Situation Table is a multi-agency collaboration of local human service, health, education and criminal justice professionals that meets Wednesday mornings to address situations where an individual or family is at a significant risk of harm. The team develops an action plan to reduce the risk and works with the individual and their family to connect them with services and supports in the community. The City of Woonsocket is a proud member of this collaborative.
