Transportation Awards

Metronet/MELSA-area secondary schools are encouraged to apply for bus reimbursement! We have increased the reimbursement to $500 per district. Application Here.

Awards are made on a first come, first served basis. Apply now!

One award per district. You may allocate the award across buildings to hire buses, vans, or other public transportation to get students to TLC 2025. We ask for a minimum of 25 students per award, but talk to us. We can be flexible!

  • Eligibility is restricted to secondary schools in these counties: Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott, and Washington. Funding is limited.
  • One application per district will be accepted--collaborate with your media specialist & teachers to submit the application.
  • Schools/districts may apply even if they have received an award in a

previous year.

  • Buses must have chaperones who stay at the event.

Apply by March 21, 2025 at 5:00pm so you have time to promote the bus. Apply even if you just think you can fill a bus; it is OK to change later.

If you are not a Metronet/MELSA-area school, check with your multicounty multitype library system, school/district foundations, or other local organizations for funding for buses. If are bringing a bus, please let us know! We want you to know the drop-off/pick-up details and other info. Email ann@metronet.lib.mn.us

Everyone bringing a bus to TLC is asked to fill out this form no later than April 23 so we have information on chaperones' cell numbers.

Yes, We Need Ambassadors!

Watch for a separate announcement/email about being an Ambassador or Book Squad member. We are finalizing the sign-up process and the number of people we need.

This is a fun day of helping teens with exhibit hall activities, logistics of the event, wayfinding guides, and more. This opportunity is for adults only; we want any teens in attendance to enjoy the activities!

Ambassadors will be placed in jobs as needed during their shifts. This year we are adding some set-up shifts, including early Saturday morning.

Book Squad members must have experience with teen readers advisory. We will be looking for librarians with Novelist experience, too, as part of the Book Squad.

All Ambassadors receive a cool t-shirt! Book Squad gets its own branded t-shirt. All day volunteers receive lunch. So put us on your calendar so you can join us on April 26!

Things To Know

The most important thing to remember is that this is an event for teens. Adults are welcome to attend, but are expected to allow teens first chance at all events & activities.
