Principal's message:

Happy Friday! Welcome back; I hope everyone had a very nice and relaxing Spring Break! With three quarters down in the 21/22 school year, and as we enter April, we are in the home stretch of the school year. It is that time for all to reach deep and finish strong. Seniors, I know you are starting to feel that Senioritis creeping in, but keep pushing it off and work hard to finish on top of your game.

I got to spend a fun 80s themed evening with some of our BPHS PTSA board at the local 4th district annual dinner. Thank you Rosalva, Sharon, Dena, and all our PTSA members who have done such a great job building up and advancing our PTSA here at BPHS. Keep up the great work!

Quote of the Week

Congratulations to our Advanced Robotics & Mechatronics (ARM) Program Director Mr Nehme, who over break became the first, and only, Gold Certified SACA instructor in the State of California! This allows Mr. Nehme to now certify BPHS students...certifications that will land them incredibly high paying jobs in the field of manufacturing and robotic automation. What an incredible asset we have here at BPHS! Great job Mr. Nehme!

Cheer

Congratulations to Varsity Cheer who competed at SHARP International's State Championship at Knott's Berry Farm. It was the school's first competitive cheer competition, and they took home FIRST PLACE in the Varsity Show Cheer, Advanced Non-Tumbling division. Amazing job! The spirit was flowing through you...way to represent BP!

Boys Volleyball

Congratulations to Varsity Boys Volleyball who made it to the semi-finals of the Monrovia Tournament during spring break. They played some excellent volleyball beating both Dominguez HS and Palmdale Aerospace. They competed at a high level and look forward to a strong season ahead. Great job boys!

Softball

Congratulations Varsity Softball who improved their record to 13-2 over the break. They handed an undefeated Capistrano Valley Christian team their first loss of the season with a 7-4 win. The victory guarantees the team their first winning record in the last 20 years. Weather permitting, the girls start league this week. Good luck ladies!

Volunteer Opportunity

Date: Saturday, April 16, 2022

Event Time: 8:00 am-12:00 pm

Location: Boisseranc Park. 7520 Dale Street, Buena Park, 90620

Volunteer Shift Times:

- 6:30 am - 10:30 pm

- 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Check in at the blue Community Services tent next to the Rock Wall and Game Booths.

Duties will include assisting city staff with set up of the event, during the event, helping run games and craft booths, operations of bounce houses, lines for egg hunts, and clean-up after the event.

To be able to volunteer we will need the following:

- Name

- Email

- Phone Number

- Completed Medical Release Form submitted no later than Thursday April 7, by 5:00 pm to Buena Park Community Center to be given to Cyndie Trejo or Lizzie Holloway Hazel Nunez.

- Desired shift time (6:30 am - 10:30 am/10:00 am - 1:00 pm )

Coyote College & Career Center

Located in the Student Center (Library) (RM 210)

The CCC is open from 7:30 to 4:00 pm, Monday-Friday where we offer many different services to our students. These include: college applications, FAFSA, scholarships, SAT/ACT information, dual enrollment with Fullerton College, etc. In the upcoming year the College & Career Center will be hosting college visits, military visits, and college workshops. For more information please check out our new College and Career tab on Buena Park High School’s website located under the Counseling tab.

Rachelle Jackson-Gomez

Guidance Technician

Rachelle went to CSU Channel Islands where she majored in Psychology and graduated Cum Laude, from there she went on to Chapman University where she received her Masters in Counseling and her Pupil Personnel Services Credential. While at Chapman she interned at Kramer Middle School and Fullerton Union High School, her alma mater. Since graduating she has been substitute teaching in the Fullerton Elementary district and raising her two babies. She is now joining us as our new guidance technician in the brand new college and career center.

Coyote Corner

"Support is just around the corner"

Buena Park High School values all student’s social-emotional health, and we have developed a center that houses resources to support students throughout the day. Students who need a safe place to cope with anxiety, stress or need someone to talk to can visit our COYOTE CORNER (Room 27) at the front of the school. The Corner is open before and after school, during lunch and breaks, by appointment with a therapist, or with a pass from a teacher or administrator. Please stop in and visit and know that "Support is just around the CORNER."
