Week 1- Fall Semester 2025/26

Principal's message:

Happy Friday...and welcome back Coyotes! What a great start to the school year. Our first two days were full of fun and connections, with asemblies at the end of each day. The Welcome Back Assembly featured our fall sports, with performances by cheer, dance and choir, as well as ASB hosting Battle of the Classes activities. Then on Day 2, we held Coyote 101, where we went over the school goals, focuses, and expectations. We highlighted band and colorguard as they prepare for the upcoming season, crowned a Rock-Paper-Scissors Champion, and capped it off with an amazing guest speaker.

Johan Martinez-Khalilian brought a wonderful message to BPHS during both assemblies. He not only engaged the students with personal stories of grit and resiliency, but used interactive games and examples to drive home his message: think bigger, aim higher, and maybe even win your own version of a championship — whatever that looks like for you. He capped off his presentation with a theme from the book Anti-Fragile, where he explained that when faced with challenges, there are three types of people in the world: those that fold, those that get up when knocked down, and those that get up and become stronger. He challenged our students to be the latter.

Our students then rolled into Wednesday where they launched into their curriculum, and we started gathering data in math, english, and science through NWEA testing. Fall sports kicked off with Girls Flag Football, Boys Waterpolo, and Girls Volleyball all securing first game victories. Overall I'd say it was an amazing first week.

Have a great weekend Coyotes and we'll see you back on Monday!

It's the little things we do that can make a positive impact on others. We don't do good things to be recognized, but people recognize when we do good things.

Faith Castillo

She was so helpful to the new freshman in my floral class, telling them about the campus. Additionally, she saw a pile of tree branches and offered to pick them up, and she did. (Ms. Cortez)

Kaidee Moreno

Kaidee has been helpful and kind by helping another student in her group assignment this week. She welcomed him into her group, translated when needed and made a friend! (Ms. Acosta)

Coyote Academy of Visual & Performing Arts

The Dance Company kicked off the school year with a performance at the Welcome Back Assembly on Monday! After putting in hard work all summer and experiencing an unforgettable camp in Palm Springs, the team is ready to light up the stage and bring all the magic this season has to offer.

Girls Volleyball

The girls volleyball program had their first match of the season and home opener on Thursday, 8/14/25 vs Long Beach Jordan.

All levels played amazing after a long summer camp and practices as it showed in their first game of the season.

The Frosh/Soph team won in a dominant fashion with one of their best wins in recent years, winning two sets with scores of 25-9, 25-14. This is the beginning of a new season and they look forward to many more victories.

Our JV team had a tough match up as there was a mixture of grade levels on the team, ranging from juniors to Freshman. They won the first set but couldn't hold on, dropping the last two sets by a deficit of five points in each one. The scores were 25-11, 20-25 and 10-15. They look forward to getting on the win column at their next game.

Last season's varsity team finished with a 16-16 record and had a strong ending with a 9-1 finish in their last 10 matches. They were 2 wins away and 10 spots below the only at-large seeding in their division. As for this season the expectations are high as they look to continue the success that they had towards the end of last season. They started strong in their home opener with a 3-0 set win 25-13, 25-15, 25-13. Last night they broke 2 records. The first record is that it was their first home opener win since the 2022-2023 season, which was a 5 set win. The second record that was broken was that it was their first home opener win with a 3-0 set win since the 2018-2019 season. Last night the team was led by Cayla Martinez with 11 assists, Eleanor Kailiponi with 8 Kills and 7 assists, Liana Duran with 8 Kills and 4 Aces, and finally Ruby Rodriguez and Veronica Peña with 3 Aces each. They look forward to their next win vs Rialto who were one of the teams that won CIF last season.

We hope everyone can attend our matches as we are excited about the new direction in our future, especially after what was accomplished last season. We look forward to accomplishing great things this season!

Boys Waterpolo

Congratulations Boys Waterpolo on a commanding 17-7 win vs Cypress HS in the first game of the season! Keep it up boys!

Girls Flag Football

Way to go Girls Flag Football with a win in their first game...14-13 on a game winning drive! Great job ladies!

Cheer

The Spirit Team kicked off the year with an electrifying performance at the Welcome Back Assembly! After a summer of hard work learning new stunts, perfecting chants, and sharing an amazing camp experience in Palm Springs, they’re ready to bring all the cheerleader energy and spirit to this campus all season long.

Student Learning Outcomes

The purpose of SLOs are to increased student awareness of their own learning

Explicitly-stated learning goals give students a way to think and talk about what they have learned. They make it easier for students to “know what they know” and give students a language to communicate what they know to others. Such awareness is considered central to learning that lasts.
Have a Great Week Coyotes!
It's a Great Time to be a Coyote!
