Week 2- Fall Semester 2025/26

Principal's message:

Happy Friday Coyotes! The second week is in the books! Only thing left is to be in the stadium tonight for the first football game of the season! It's a GREEN OUT, so get your BP gear on and come down to support your team. We'll also have some great entertainment during halftime, and plenty to eat in the snack shack. Waterpolo, volleyball, and Girls Flag Football continue to gather wins, and everybody is settling into the groove of classes.

Have a great weekend Coyotes, try to stay cool, and we'll see you back on Monday!

It's the little things we do that can make a positive impact on others. We don't do good things to be recognized, but people recognize when we do good things.

Donovan Nguyen

Donovan has been incredibly respectful and responsible throughout the week. Since he does not have a first period, he has generously used that time to assist me in the library. He has helped with cleaning, organizing, barcoding, and supporting classes with textbook checkouts.

Dad Joke of the Week

My friends think it's silly that I started a class in blindfolded archery. They don’t know what they’re missing!

Girls Volleyball

The girls' volleyball program is off to a strong start this season, with all three levels showing progress and determination. The Frosh/Soph team has started the season with one of its best starts in recent years, earning a 3–1 record with wins over Long Beach Jordan High School, Century High School, and Dominguez High School. Their only loss came against Rialto High School. This young group is learning quickly, gaining confidence each week, and looks forward to continued growth as the season unfolds.

The Junior Varsity team has found its rhythm after dropping its first two games, and is now on a two-game winning streak with back-to-back victories against Century High School and Dominguez High School. With talent spread across multiple grade levels, this is one of the most skilled JV squads in the past three years. The team is steadily improving, using each practice and game as an opportunity to build momentum and grow stronger together.

The Varsity team is also off to one of its best starts in recent memory, holding a 2–2 record as they prepare for their first league matchup against Savanna High School. Led by captains Liana Duran (12th grade), Ruby Rodriguez (12th grade), and Eleanor Kailiponi (10th grade), the group focuses on developing its identity while finding the right balance through various lineups. Head Coach Alonso Ledezma shared, “This early in the season, we’re still figuring out our identity as a team and what we’re capable of accomplishing. We’ve tried different lineups, and I truly believe we have a great group of student-athletes. This is one of the strongest groups I’ve coached, and our goal is to make the playoffs this year.”

The Varsity roster features a well-balanced mix of experience and new energy, with seven returning players—Liana Duran, Ruby Rodriguez, Veronica Peña, Eceiri Lavina, Cayla Martinez, Monserrat Aviles, and Eleanor Kailiponi—joined by six newcomers eager to contribute. Together, they are determined to achieve more wins than in any previous season and earn a CIF playoff berth! Coach Ledezma also approaches a career milestone: with 18 total wins, he is just six victories away from tying the school record of 24, and seven away from surpassing it.

With strong leadership, a committed group of athletes, and growing community support, the girls volleyball program is poised for a season filled with growth, milestones, and success.

Boys Waterpolo

Congratulations Boys Waterpolo on another great win 13-7 over Tustin HS. They're now 2-0 to start the young season. Keep it up boys!

Girls Flag Football

Girls Flag Football picked up two more wins this week, a come from behind victory and a blow out...driving their record to 3-1 Great job ladies!

Football

Congratulations to Frosh/Soph and Coach Jamal Bostik on their come from behind win yesterday against Don Lugo. Teddy Yescas tossed a game tying 20 yard TD pass to Landon Berg half way through the 4th quarter. The defense, led by a swarm of Coyotes, and Jamez Shapiro who had two interceptions in the game, stopped the opponent to seal the win! Hopefully this is a good sign of things to come tonight!

Student Learning Outcomes

The purpose of SLOs are to increased student awareness of their own learning

Explicitly-stated learning goals give students a way to think and talk about what they have learned. They make it easier for students to “know what they know” and give students a language to communicate what they know to others. Such awareness is considered central to learning that lasts.
