Week 3 - Fall Semester 2023/24

Principal's message:

Happy Labor Day Weekend Coyotes! Because we've done such a great job as a school community, I'm giving everyone a day off on Monday! Just kidding, our Monday holiday is courtesy of all laborers in the United States, recognizing their hard work. (see the labor day write up below)

But leading up to this weekend, we have had a very successful week at The Park. We continue to hold our absences and tardies to low rates...keep it up students! Volleyball had a busy week logging back to back victories, with Football getting their first win of the year in big fashion last Friday night. ASB is getting ready for a homecoming week next week, and our Homecoming game and dance next weekend. I hope you are all planning to attend.

Student(s) Spotlight of the Week

Congratulations to the following Coyotes who earned their Capstone Diplomas! In order to receive an AP Capstone Diploma, each student must not only pass AP Seminar and Research, but also four other AP courses throughout high school. These students have completed one of the most rigorous high school courseworks, having successfully researched, written, and defended a dissertation on the topic of their choosing. It is a great accomplishment and these students will be well poised for admission to the colleges of their choice. The Capstone curriculum provides students with not only a scholastic accolade that makes their transcripts unique among college bound students, but more importantly a collegiate academic foundation in research that transfers across curriculum. Great job Coyotes!

Lastly, I wanted to take a quick minute and wish you all a happy upcoming three-day weekend.  I’ve seen a lot of hard work these first three weeks of school, this weekend will be a nice respite.  Although we all are excited about the long weekend, seldom do we reflect on exactly why we get the day off.

This Monday we observe Labor Day in the United States which is a public holiday celebrated on the first Monday in September. It honors the American labor movement and the contributions that workers have made to the strength, prosperity, laws and well-being of our country. It is the Monday of the long weekend known as Labor Day Weekend and it is considered the unofficial end of summer in the United States. The holiday is also a federal holiday.

So take some time to relax and try to find a large body of water to cool-off in.  See you all back Tuesday!

Trivia question of the week

Labor day marks the technical end of summer in the United States. Summer is also a time for big movie releases. Over the years there have been many movies that have raked in the cash and become all-time blockbuster hits. What are the three highest grossing movies of all-time (worldwide), and how much did they make?

Weekly Wellness Reminder

I hope this message finds you well. This week, I wanted to share some thoughts about the incredible power of gratitude and how it can positively impact our lives, relationships, and overall well-being.

Gratitude is a simple yet profound concept. It's about acknowledging and appreciating the blessings, big and small, that we encounter in our lives. When we practice gratitude, we shift our focus from what we lack to what we have, fostering a sense of contentment and joy. As we navigate our busy lives, it's easy to overlook the power of gratitude. So, I encourage each of you to take a moment each day to reflect on what you're thankful for. It could be a supportive friend, a beautiful sunset, a small act of kindness, or even a personal achievement.

Let's embark on this journey together, focusing on the positive aspects of our lives and spreading the power of gratitude. By doing so, we can create a more joyful, connected, and resilient community.

Student Learning Outcomes

The purpose of SLOs are to increased student awareness of their own learning

Explicitly-stated learning goals give students a way to think and talk about what they have learned. They make it easier for students to “know what they know” and give students a language to communicate what they know to others. Such awareness is considered central to learning that lasts.
Have a Great Week Coyotes!
It's a Great Time to be a Coyote!
