Principal's message:

Happy Friday Coyotes! I don't know about you, but this week flew by! Maybe it was the short week that contributed to that, so I hope everyone enjoyed a nice short four day work week. This week we named our AVID Senior Standout. For those unfamiliar with the AVID program, it is definitely something to take a look at for those college-bound students needing some extra support with skills designed to help raise/maintain grades to a competitive collegiate level.

This is also the second week in a row where we've made connections with local businesses regarding potential career opportunities. The first is very local right here in BP...Porto's Bakery and Cafe, and the second is just down the 91 fwy a bit...RBC Bearings Inc. See below in "Community Partnerships" for more information.

The weather looks like it will be nice this weekend, so I hope you'll be able to get outside in the fresh air and enjoy the Southern California winter :)

Quote of the Week

Sarahy Gonzalez

Congratulation Sarahy Gonzalez who was selected as Buena Park HIgh School's AVID Senior Standout. In a program of standouts, Sarahy stood out for her leadership, excellence, overall drive to enhance BP as a destination school for all students. She has a great road ahead of her and is leaving a wonderful legacy here as ASB Executive President. Great job Sarahy!

Girls Basketball

Congratulations Girls Basketball who beat La Habra High School 50-43 last Friday. Great game and good luck to the ladies who face a tough Troy team tonight.

Boys Basketball

Boys basketball is finally getting back to games this week and will hopefully come away with a victory tonight against Troy HS. Good luck boys!

Girls Soccer

Both the Boys and Girls Varsity Soccer programs look to capitalize on some very close matches to hopefully tip the tides this next week. Both programs are very strong and continuing to grow. Keep up the hard work!

Girls Waterpolo

Girls Varsity water polo won two more games in their most recent tournament beating Pacifica HS 16-8 and Troy HS 15-5. They will finish league play over the next week or so and will enter the playoff carousel in decent shape to hopefully place top 3 in league. Good luck ladies!

Seniors!!!

BPHS A.R.M Program Director Mr. Nehme and I met with representatives from RBC Bearings Inc. to discuss a future partnership to provide BPHS students internships starting as early as this summer! We were able to get an amazing tour of their facility right here in our own backyard, and see the synergy between what they do and our program. More information to come as we hash out the details, but the potential opportunities could be amazing and we look forward to this new relationship going forward.

Coyote Corner

"Support is just around the corner"

Buena Park High School values all student’s social-emotional health, and we have developed a center that houses resources to support students throughout the day. Students who need a safe place to cope with anxiety, stress or need someone to talk to can visit our COYOTE CORNER (Room 27) at the front of the school. The Corner is open before and after school, during lunch and breaks, by appointment with a therapist, or with a pass from a teacher or administrator. Please stop in and visit and know that "Support is just around the CORNER."

We want YOU to be part of our BPHS PTSA! Be in the know of everything BPHS...Help plan some special functions like Grad Nite...Students who are members of PTSA qualify for special scholarships in the spring of their senior year!

It's a great way to be involved!
