Week 6 - Fall Semester 2022/22

Principal's message:

Happy Friday Coyotes! We have completed the first grading period of the year. Great job to all those students who have started their year by working hard and really embracing the opportunity to learn each and every day. If you aren't satisfied with your marks, then make the adjustment. We have four more weeks until the end of the quarter and a few months until the end of the semester. Keep up the hard work!

Check out the new segment of the newsletter below to meet those that impact our campus in a positive way. Speaking of impacting campus, big shout out to girls basketball who showed up to support boys water polo on Wednesday. Their support was worth at least a couple points, and with a razor thin 13-12 victory, you never know how much your support means.  Way to #supporthepack

Lastly, fun fact, this past week was the United States Air Force's birthday! The Air Force used to be the flying arm of the US Army during its early days, but in 1947, separated off into its own branch of the military. Being in the AF for over 22 years, September 18th is always marked in my calendar :)

I hope you all have a great weekend! Go Coyotes!

Seniors planning to apply to private colleges or out of state schools, please check the requirements to apply to the colleges you are interested in to find out if the SAT or ACT is required. Cal State Universities and University of California colleges do not use SAT or ACT scores in the admissions process but other schools may consider or require scores. Now is the time to register for those tests if you need scores. Registration is done online.

PSAT is coming October 12th for 10th and 11th grade students. PSAT scores are used for some scholarship programs and will give you a good idea of your SAT scores. All 10th and 11th graders planning to go to 4 year colleges are encouraged to take the PSAT.

Coyote Corner
"Support is just around the corner"
Buena Park High School values all student’s social-emotional health, and we have developed a center that houses resources to support students throughout the day. Students who need a safe place to cope with anxiety, stress or need someone to talk to can visit our COYOTE CORNER (Room 27) at the front of the school. The Corner is open before and after school, during lunch and breaks, by appointment with a therapist, or with a pass from a teacher or administrator. Please stop in and visit and know that "Support is just around the CORNER."

Students...do you know your SLOs
Student Learning Outcomes
The purpose of SLOs are to increased student awareness of their own learning

Explicitly-stated learning goals give students a way to think and talk about what they have learned. They make it easier for students to “know what they know” and give students a language to communicate what they know to others. Such awareness is considered central to learning that lasts.
Have a Great Week Coyotes!
