Baseball continues to show resilience as they battled back for two of their three wins this week in walk off fashion! "Our pitching has kept us in every ball game whether we have a lead or are fighting from behind. Our hitting is starting to get hot at the perfect time and our players are not only swinging well, but also laying down crucial sacrifices to put runners in scoring position. The unselfishness of this team is what has secured 5 victories for us so far. We go to Estancia HS this Saturday at 10am. As we preach year in and year out, "We Will Succeed.” - Coach Gutierrez
Saturday's game was a 4-3 walk off victory against Costa Mesa HS. Manny Rivera threw an 8 inning CG, gaining his 2nd win of the year, and also hit the walk-off single scoring Alex Sotelo.
Tuesday they grabbed their 4th win of the season against Calvary Chapel (Downey) HS in a 7-2 victory. The player of the game was the freshman pitcher, Jose Arcos. Arcos threw 6 2/3 innings, striking out 6, and only giving up 2 hits. Jose Piceno led the offense going 3-3, with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored.
Thursday's game was a late game comeback vs Century High School. Neil Navarro had a day at the plate going 2 for 3, scoring a run, and also an RBI. Navarro hit a deep triple, and the walk-off single to beat Century HS 7-6. Anthony Santillan went 3-4 at the plate scoring twice and gave the Coyotes the game tying double. Anthony Santillan pitched a complete game only giving up 2 earned runs, and striking 5 batters.
They take on Estancia HS Saturday at 10 am at Estancia HS. JV Baseball also collected their 4th win of the year against Century HS. They are currently 4 - 1. They also take on Estancia HS this Saturday, 10am @ Home
