Principal's message:

Happy Friday everyone! It was a great week to be a Coyote...and to be a future Coyote! Our Link Crew hosted our Annual Frosh Fest this past Wednesday, and what an amazing event it was. Since we were not able to have a typical Open House this year, we merged our traditional Frosh Fest with an amazing Program Showcase for our incoming families. Hundreds of incoming 9th graders were greeted through the Coyote head into the gym by our fantastic upper class leaders. Their energy was infectious as they connected with our next generation. Our incoming parents were also treated to in-depth discussions on programs and registration with our counselors and administrators, and then reunited with their children in the gym for a meet-n-greet with program leaders, coaches, and student ambassadors for each program. The Class of 2026 ended the evening signed up and connected to at least one program for next year! It was a great night all around.

Immediately afterward I enjoyed the opening night of our fall play - The Bad Seed. Our student actors did such a nice job on stage and kudos to Mr. Galindo for directing another entertaining play. You still have tonight and tomorrow to catch the show...so come on out to the PAC. See below for times and ticket prices. Next opportunity will be the Spring Musical at the end of April! You won't want to miss it!

Baseball and Softball both racked up wins this week as well, as they continue to improved their records. Tennis, Track, and Swimming are kicking off their seasons over the next week.

Baseball

Baseball continues to show resilience as they battled back for two of their three wins this week in walk off fashion! "Our pitching has kept us in every ball game whether we have a lead or are fighting from behind. Our hitting is starting to get hot at the perfect time and our players are not only swinging well, but also laying down crucial sacrifices to put runners in scoring position. The unselfishness of this team is what has secured 5 victories for us so far. We go to Estancia HS this Saturday at 10am. As we preach year in and year out, "We Will Succeed.” - Coach Gutierrez

Saturday's game was a 4-3 walk off victory against Costa Mesa HS. Manny Rivera threw an 8 inning CG, gaining his 2nd win of the year, and also hit the walk-off single scoring Alex Sotelo.

Tuesday they grabbed their 4th win of the season against Calvary Chapel (Downey) HS in a 7-2 victory. The player of the game was the freshman pitcher, Jose Arcos. Arcos threw 6 2/3 innings, striking out 6, and only giving up 2 hits. Jose Piceno led the offense going 3-3, with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored.

Thursday's game was a late game comeback vs Century High School. Neil Navarro had a day at the plate going 2 for 3, scoring a run, and also an RBI. Navarro hit a deep triple, and the walk-off single to beat Century HS 7-6. Anthony Santillan went 3-4 at the plate scoring twice and gave the Coyotes the game tying double. Anthony Santillan pitched a complete game only giving up 2 earned runs, and striking 5 batters.

They take on Estancia HS Saturday at 10 am at Estancia HS. JV Baseball also collected their 4th win of the year against Century HS. They are currently 4 - 1. They also take on Estancia HS this Saturday, 10am @ Home

Softball

Varsity Softball registered another victory this week to take their record to 5-2!

In a 10-1 win over Trabuco Hills, Daniella Orozco highlighted the game with a home run! Great job Daniella and great job Varsity Softball.

Boys Volleyball - Preview

Under the tutelage of new head coach Jonathan Blea, the boy’s volleyball team is gearing up for a solid season in the freeway league. Led by returners Matthew Nave and Daniel Lazaro, the boys are practicing daily to be both mentally and physically prepared. With new talent and many new faces on the BP team, we expect to have a strong season and dominate on the court.

Seniors!!!

BPHS A.R.M Program Director Mr. Nehme and I met with representatives from RBC Bearings Inc. to discuss a future partnership to provide BPHS students internships starting as early as this summer! We were able to get an amazing tour of their facility right here in our own backyard, and see the synergy between what they do and our program. More information to come as we hash out the details, but the potential opportunities could be amazing and we look forward to this new relationship going forward.

Coyote Corner

"Support is just around the corner"

Buena Park High School values all student’s social-emotional health, and we have developed a center that houses resources to support students throughout the day. Students who need a safe place to cope with anxiety, stress or need someone to talk to can visit our COYOTE CORNER (Room 27) at the front of the school. The Corner is open before and after school, during lunch and breaks, by appointment with a therapist, or with a pass from a teacher or administrator. Please stop in and visit and know that "Support is just around the CORNER."

We want YOU to be part of our BPHS PTSA! Be in the know of everything BPHS...Help plan some special functions like Grad Nite...Students who are members of PTSA qualify for special scholarships in the spring of their senior year!
