Thank you for a dynamic and successful Curriculum Night!
LAST WEEK'S  CSCA GENERAL MEETING
What a great turnout! Over 30 people attended our CSCA General Meeting last Tuesday - and in a school our size, that's pretty good!

For those who couldn't make it, here are just a few t hings we learned:
  • Putting VP Hannah Morgan in charge of the food was a wise decision!
  • TCS families are literally "all over the map"
  • Thanks to the hard work of the Recruitment and Retention Committee and Dr. Casey's advocacy, we are at about 250 students
  • That means we don't face losing a general ed teacher (like so many other Seattle high schools)
  • We will, though, be losing a .4 Special Ed position, but TCS will make it work!
  • The new Career & College Specialist has been hired (see more info below)
  • Ms. Neel, our new Humanities teacher, is a TCS alumnus!
  • CSCA funding helps support school programs like MUN, Music and Drama, and provides opportunities for Parent Education evenings
  • TCS acronyms
  • Our new CSCA Teacher Rep Ms. Lackey is taking on Senior Prom
  • You can build a community at an option high school, and
  • There is always a way to volunteer or contribute!
Just a reminder, our monthly CSCA Board Meetings are open to all. The next one will be October 23rd. Come join us!
Our Counselor Karen Brookman lost her life partner right before the school year started. Beginning last week, she went on bereavement leave and will be out until mid-October. While a substitute counselor will be brought in, if you have any emergency schedule or requirement concerns, please contact Dr. Casey.
A BIG THANK YOU to volunteers Tim, Daphne and family who came in to help Ms. Peterson repair chairs in the Science department!

CAN YOU HELP?

We are still looking to fill a few open positions. Please let us know if you're interested or want more information:

Junior parent to chair Senior Event committee
This is a great way to front load your volunteerism so you don't feel bad next year and can just focus on your senior! :)

Co-Vice President
One of our amazing VPs has agreed to take on the Co-Treasurer job. That creates a great opportunity to join us as a Co-Vice President!

Race and Equity Committee Chair
Support the work of staff and students and recruitment/retention!  Last year the committee put on a great parent ed night on understanding implicit bias.

Assistance with Reflections Art Contest
V o lunteers who know how to bevel-cut window mats (or who could be trained and would be willing to help out as needed). We already have mat cutters and the other necessary tools, just need the hands!

Mrs. DeNormandie, our new College & Career Specialist, officially joined TCS this past Thursday. As she settles in, watch this space for information from her about opportunities beyond High School.

Welcome aboard!
