WELCOME SAM WOLK, PHOTO & VIDEO
We have some great news to share with our families: a new instructor for the Photo and Video classes, Sam Wolk!
Sam is a 2012 graduate of TCS with a minor in film and an active interest in film-making who was interviewed the week prior to school closure for the photo and video classes. As a long-term substitute, he will be taking over those classes for the rest of the school year and he will apply for the job in the fall. He has worked through many steps to get an emergency certification and other HR steps to take this position at a school he attended and one he has always wanted to return as an Instructor. Here is his own self-introduction:
I am Sam Wolk, TCS graduate (class of 2012) and interim media studies teacher. I hold a BA in Philosophy from Fairhaven college with a minor in Film Studies through the English department. As part of my work toward the film degree I co-taught a film class and worked as a research assistant for my advisor.
Recently I worked in operations for an internet advertising firm. Previously I've worked for a movie theater, a design school and on personal film projects as a writer, director and editor. Currently I am editing a documentary short that follows a holocaust survivor as she leads a yoga trip across the Italian alps.
My interests in film include (but are not limited to) the economics of filmmaking, globalization and the relationship between high and low art. Teaching media studies has long been a dream of mine and I am excited to be back at Center to do it!
