Thursday, September 3 at 6:00 p.m. French Film Night: La Règle du Jeu. A 1939 French satirical comedy-drama film directed by Jean Renoir. The film depicts members of upper-class French society and their servants just before the beginning of World War II, showing their moral callousness on the eve of destruction. With English subtitles. Would you like guidance when navigating Medicare or when trying to utilize the healthcare marketplace through Access Health CT? If so, please join us for a recurring program this fall, on the third Wednesday of each month, leading up to open enrollment. Thursday, September 17 at 4:00 p.m. Fall Book Discussion Series: Taking on the Past. The Fall Book Discussion focuses on novels in which characters find themselves taking on parts of the past. That past can be historical or personal, it can involve relationships or institutions. In each case a character is put in the position of revisiting elements of the past. This raises the question, how well do “do overs” work in fiction? This month's book is The Last Days of Ptolomy Grey by Walter Moseley. This will be a presentation about the program including how they help people, how to sign up, and will include time for Q&A. Sunday, October 4 from 9:00 to 3:00 p.m. SafeSitter, Grades 6+. This 6 hour course is designed to prepare students to be safe when they’re home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. This Instructor-led class is filled with fun games and role-playing exercises. Students will learn Safety Skills, Child Care Skills, First Aid and Rescue Skills, and Life and Business Skills. Class is $30 per participant. Grades 6 and up only. We will be meeting in the Junior Room. Registration is required. Space is limited.
