Art Exhibit: Visions and Variety: Seven Artist Friends. A collection of paintings by artists and friends Bonnie Jo Cheron, Amy Elise Dyer, Sue Edelstein, Kathy Flynn, Lisa Mahon, Annie Decker McAward, and Robert Swanson. The exhibit can be seen in the Gallery March 5 through April 30, 2021.
 
For the Month of March, Find The Golden Tickets! Golden Tickets will be placed randomly throughout books in the Junior Room. Check out as many books as you like, have fun reading, and check your books for those Golden Tickets! Thursday, March 25 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Spring Book Discussion Series. Retro-History: The Historic Novel. The spring 2021 book group will focus on four historical novels. We will consider how and to what extent authors are successful in rendering the past, and discuss what works and why. There is one sense in which all of our most famous works are historical fiction, starting with Homer and the Bible, but our four novels will be recent publications. They have been arranged in pairs, two novels that start out in the West Indies, two novels that involve Europe and Japan. This month's book is Washington Black by Esi Edugyan. The discussion is conducted by Betty Krasne, PhD., writer, professor emerita, and longtime Kent resident. On Zoom. Please call the Library to register.

Thursday, April 8 at 7:00 p.m. A Conversation with Sandra Cisneros, on Writing, on The House on Mango Street, on Activism, on the Heart Breaking Over and Over Until it Stays Open. Sandra Cisneros is a poet, short story writer, novelist, and essayist whose work explores the lives of the working-class. She will be in conversation with María Acosta Cruz, Ph.D professor of Language, Literature, & Culture at Clark University. Saturday, April 10 at 11:00 a.m. Spring Break Dinosaur Storytime and Dinosaur Egg To-Go Craft. Let’s kick off a week of school vacation together with some stories about dinosaurs, and a to-go craft kit to make your own dinosaur egg at home, that you can then “hatch” open! All ages are welcome to participate. We will be meeting behind the Visitor Center. Monday, April 12 at 12:00 p.m. StoryWalk at the Claire Murphy RiverWalk in Kent. Co-hosted by the Kent Land Trust. Come walk, read & eat. Join school-age children and curious adults on a fun walk and read at the Claire Murphy River Walk on our custom StoryWalk - “A Swallow’s Story: A Place on the Farm.” Walk approximately .25 mile on a level trail and join us to read the StoryWalk along the river. Bring your lunch and a blanket and picnic by the river or along the trail. All ages welcome to participate. We will be meeting at the Claire Murphy River Walk, 170 Kent Road, at Marble Valley Farm. The Kent Seed Library is full of seeds for this year’s growing season. While it is still early, it is a good time to start thinking about what you would like to grow this year. The Kent Memorial Library has lots of gardening books to get your creativity flowing. Our Seed Library is here for patrons to "borrow" seeds to grow. In return, please make an effort to donate some seed for others to use at a later time. We even have great books on saving your own seed! Before you know it spring will be here!
