From Passport's President - Fraud and Embezzlement?
It is heartbreaking when we learn that companies have been violated often by a long-time, trusted employee who has been embezzling money for years. And yet it happens. Why?
While I cannot speculate on each person’s motives, I have noticed that addictions to gambling or substances are frequently involved. However, others are not easy to determine. Case in point, one accounting clerk secretly opened a new company credit card account, and used it to purchase personal items for several years. Over $80,000 was charged and she, of course, paid the statements using the company AP accounts. Read more

A Sneak Preview of PBS Version 12.09
Passport has set an August target date for releasing PBS Version 12.09. While there are many enhancements coming in 12.09, several new favorites will be very welcome:
1. New! Passport Cloud Backup is our program that allows customers to set up scheduled backup jobs to Passport’s cloud storage. Our backup program includes verification of data integrity as part of creating the backups to detect file corruption from ransomware and other data corruption issues. Each job may be scheduled to run on chosen days of the week, as well as times, and they may back up PBS as well as other directories your customer chooses to keep safe in the cloud. Backup results are logged and problem notifications are issued via SMS. Read more

If you need to “remote” in to a local PC while on vacation, there’s a new way to do it: the Windows App, which is replacing the Remote Desktop app within Windows.
Microsoft’s Remote Desktop app is one of the easier ways to remotely connect to a PC while you’re out and about, allowing you to access a PC remotely and even perform some basic file transfers. (Unfortunately, since the October 2024 Update for Windows 11, the app has had some issues.) Read more

Support for Windows 10 will End in October 2025
Please be aware that after October 14, 2025, Microsoft will no longer provide free software updates from Windows Update, technical assistance, or security fixes for Windows 10. Your PC will still work, but we recommend moving to Windows 11. Windows 11 offers a modern and efficient experience designed to meet current demands for heightened security. Learn more

Jamaican Jerk Chicken
