Family Fun Take-to-Make Saturday: Spring Flower
Spring in South Dakota brings pasqueflowers blooming on sunny hillsides, tulips flowering in gardens and dandelions springing up in lawns. Visitors to the Cultural Heritage Center in Pierre can pick up a take-to-make activity bag with the materials to create their own colorful flower. Visitors pick up a bag with materials and instructions and take the project home to complete. Video instructions for the project are posted on the Museum's website at https://history.sd.gov/museum/education.aspx. The museum gallery is open for visitors during this event and all regular museum hours.

Country Schools: Past and Present
Former Pierre resident Betsey DeLoache, the author of the three volume series "Country Schools: Past and Present," will tell stories of people who taught or attended country schools. Those attending are welcome to share their own country school stories. The program is part of the History and Heritage Book Club sponsored by the South Dakota Historical Society Foundation. It is made possible by a grant from the South Dakota Humanities Council, an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. DeLoache will be speaking virtually via Zoom. People may participate via Zoom or at the Cultural Heritage Center. Seating is limited to 25 at the Cultural Heritage Center. “Understanding and Responding to the Sexual Behaviors of Children”
An in-person presentation of “Understanding and Responding to the Sexual Behaviors of Children” will be held at The Right Turn on Tuesday, April 20th from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. COVID-19 guidelines will be followed. The goal is to educate parents, teachers, daycare providers, and other members of the community about these issues and prevent further abuse from happening. Missouri Shores Domestic Violence Center and The Right Turn are partnering to bring awareness to child abuse and child sexual abuse during Child Abuse Prevention month in April.

4th Annual HOPPY EARTH DAY We will continue to monitor COVID-19 in our area and make decisions as we get closer on precautions needed to keep everyone safe.
