2018 School Supply Donation Drive for Pierre & Fort Pierre
We are asking the Pierre & Fort Pierre communities to Join with us to generously donate to support school age children so they get the much-needed supplies to get off to a great start to continue his or her academic learning and development. We must all join together to support all children in our area academically and equip them to develop their young minds through this school supply donation program!

On Wednesday, August 8, 2018, SBA and The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development (RD) will present a panel on rural small business lending and technical assistance. The audience will learn about assistance and loans offered by the SBA, USDA RD, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA), Governor's Office Economic Development (GOED) and representatives of banking associations that can assist entrepreneurs start or grow a business. The session will also provide valuable information for lenders wanting to assist rural entrepreneurs. This event is free and open to the public.

Fitness in the Park

Fitness in the Park is a free outdoor exercise program that brings a variety of fitness classes to many of Pierre's beautiful parks and recreation areas. Getting started is easy. Just pick a class you like and show up! There is no registration required and classes are open to all fitness levels. All ages welcome and no experience is necessary.

Classes are led by YMCA Health & Wellness instructors. Participants should dress comfortably and bring water.  In the event of bad weather classes will be held at the Y. Follow us on Facebook or download our free app for updates and special notices.

The tale of one of South Dakota's most notorious outlaws will be told when the History and Heritage Book Club meets at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 14, at the Cultural Heritage Center. Author J.G. Swedlund will discuss his book, "Rustler on the Rosebud: The Legend of Jack Sully." Sully is said to have rustled 50,000 head of cattle over a period of nearly 30 years. Everyone is welcome to attend the free program. Copies of "Rustler on the Rosebud" are available at the Heritage Stores at the Cultural Heritage Center and the Capitol.

The 47th South Dakota 4-H Finals Rodeo will feature over 500 of SD's finest youth rodeo athletes ages 8-18. Contestants must qualify for the finals rodeo at one of over 30 regional rodeos held across South Dakota throughout the summer. Over the 3 day event 80 buckles, 25 trophy saddles, multiple scholarships and go-around awards will be awarded along with the crowning of the 2018 SD 4-H Rodeo Ambassador.
